I honestly don't see the issue of the voting. It's a good way to filter the shit comments.
No, more like it's a shit way to filter shit comments. The abuse in the voting system is very apparent. Whether you think it matters or not, I still support the "Digg it!" style of voting as Halo and Superfreak has suggested.

I never noticed any "abuse" with the comment voting.
Re: comment and/or voting system getting out of hand
I actually was having a discussion with Velocity and Devonin about comment voting earlier today.
Devonin and I share similar sentiments regarding it. That is, it essentially serves no benefit outside of front page posts. I tried to convince Velocity that a removal or change with it was needed based on what Devonin and I talked about. He didn't agree, so that didn't go anywhere haha.

Comment voting has been abused pretty heavily since day one. Not sure how you can miss people down-voting every comment on a front page post. xD

aww, well hopefully, the fact that more people are collectively agreeing will change his mind

Re: comment and/or voting system getting out of hand
However there might be some people that genuinely feel like something should be down-voted. The reason for having both a + and - voting system is to compare the two to get an understanding of the percent of people that like it. But I see how this system has it's negatives as well. Any system of voting will have its pro's and con's.

FFR comment up or down voting, MrG. The option to give a comment a thumbs up or a thumbs down. It is found on things like profile comments on random thoughts, and things such as the front page posts.

Statement that I actually agree with.
I have over 800 profile votes so I'm good.
Uhhh... blatant contradiction of previous statement.
But yeah, I agree that the comment system is pretty BS as well as broken. When it first came out, I experimented with it for a bit. I have an on-board mouse on my laptop as well as a USB mouse that I can click simultaneously and very quickly. On a well timed clicking spree of the down vote link, I can get 5 or 6 clicks in a few tenths of a second instantly dropping a comment below the viewing threshold. Just nuke the comment system. It's pointless because you can still express your appreciation or disdain for someone's comment or opinion by simply commenting instead of clicking like or dislike.
