"Hey Keywii" Said Foil in a raspy voice.
"Hey Foil. What's that you got there?" inquired Keywii.
"Oh, just my cock." Replied Foil.
"That just will not do." was keywii's response as she lunged for the scissors, pulled the blades apart, and clamped them down on the base of foil's shaft. Blood start gushing out of the wound where his penis used to be.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Yelled Foil in horror.
"Don't worry. I'm a wizard" uttered Keywii. And with that, Foil's penis grew back.
Pokemon, mainly because it was the main trend setter for many imitations of the idea (even though there were other games similar to pokemon way before). It's also what generated a great deal of my lazy anti-social childhood.
Original 151 pokemon were great, but now it is pretty much garbage.
as much as i hate to say it i don't agree with this to me it ended after the 2nd generation because there are alot of good pokemon in gold/silver/crystal
but as for answering this question POKEMON FOR LIFE

2nd gen was when our generation of players started to move on. 251 was enough.
wrote this on ffya a whlie back for ****s
pokemon gold version was at the peak of pokemon as we know it
the hype from red/blue was already there.
anime came out, holy fuc. people started trippin balls.
the first movie came out FFFFFFFFFFFF
they introduced a pokemon everyone believed to be pikablu (heh remember those rumors?)
pikachu's vacation showcased new pokemon. WHO THE **** ARE THEY? FREAKING. THE ****. OUT. everyone was excited for these new pokemon.
gold/silver came out. didn't disappoint one bit. game was ****ing awesome and even brought back the nostalgia of red/blue with kanto badges extra. they added 100 new pokemon which got everyone even more excited. then at the very end, a battle vs. red. holy ****. probably one of the most epic battles in any game ever.
pokemon johto came out for the anime series. this is where pokemon starts to die out.
ruby/sapphire come out. the crowd from gold/silver nearly completely vanishes. everyone stops watching the show, nobody cared about the 3rd generation games.
diamond/pearl comes out. way better than the previous version, but doesn't beat the first two generations. even so, it drew back a big chunk of the crowd it lost and delivered a pretty good game. problem is that now you have 493 pokemon to catch (ok at this point it's a little much) and it doesn't have the awesome show to go with it. ever watched diamon/pearl pokemon episodes? yeah they suck now. what's up with these gay pokemon fashion shows? that's not the awesome show i remember at all. they lost all epic value and made it too cartoony.
the story from the original series was way more dramatic and gave you chills (yes I still get these watching the original season). I'm yet to find an opening that's more epic than the first season of pokemon (digimon comes close though). i ****ing kid you not. that opening was both epic and awesome. now you watch the ops and it's as ****ty as all the other mediocre cartoons they show on tv.
as i mentioned before, the problem is that they made the show too childish. I remember watching pokemon where the episodes had awesome plots and stories (mind you I was 7-8 at the time) and really got you into the story. had more drama and cliffhangers that made you beg for the next episode. i ****ing miss those days.
If it wasn't for my own personal nostalgia factor, the battle with Red would put Gold/Silver over Red/Blue/Yellow for me. That was by far the best battle I've seen in any pokemon game. Ruby/Sapphire did have one thing going for it though - the elite 4 upgraded their pokemon after you beat them and screwed around a while. The second time through the elite 4 was actually pretty fun, but didn't have the cool factor of battling Red.
I prefer Pokemon to Digimon for the simple reason that I grew up with Pokemon and bought into the majority of the hype (well, my parents actually bought the stuff as I was only a kid :P). I've still got a soft spot for the series, and because of this, I will still buy the games when they bring out a new series/generation/whatever you want to call it of pokemon.
Pokemon all the way ..well up to the 2nd generation. 2nd Generation had a great amount of pokemon that were good. But Pokemon over time will just get worse and worse. I think if they DO make another Pokemon game, to let the fans make the pokemon designs.. as 3rd, 4th and 5th Gen were super pathetic. I've seen some great idea's on Deviant Art and so.
Digimon never seemed interesting to me.. It was like they were trying to copy Pokemon a bit. Idk.. Pokemon was much cuter, why I prefer it.
But in all seriousness the original Tv series was the best..The new show is really dumb. Plus the voice actors suck.. they should of kept the original. That's the reason why I stopped watching it, and why others did too most likely.
As far as the games I agree with Kommi, Gold was the peak of Pokemon. And it most likely will never reach that again.
I remember when like EVERY STORE had tons of pokemon merchandise such as Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, K-Mart, Macy's.. etc..
Now it's super challenging to find anything Pokemon .. The only places I know that carry a tad few bit of items are Toys R us and Target.
Who can forget the awesome battlecries of Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander? *Squirtle Squirt* *Bulba Bulbasaur* *Charmander Char*
IF I CAN CLIMB A TREE, I CAN CLIMB MT EVEREST. IF I CAN DRIVE A CAR, I CAN PILOT A SPACE SHUTTLE. IF I CAN PEE, I CAN BE THE PRESIDENT. IF I CAN POO, I CAN RULE THE WORLD!
You must have really bad taste in shows if you thought a story about how, a trainer going around collecting badges was way better than Digimon's season 1 and 2.
Not to mention Digimon was made first, including the trading cards. Pokemon basically was a more simplistic rip-off of Digimon.
However, though I liked Digimon it didn't make too much sense with it came to the digivolving part. They would turn something the size of your head into something 20 times your size. -- Sure, since when did it have to make sense? Never really, just something that was always a bit weird for me frankly.
I like Digimon more, but the Pokemon games are just unstoppable obviously.
