I decided to try looking at the average number of points required to get to each tier. Assuming that a 3/x is as hard to get after the update as before (which is pretty much true since the reqs for the songs that were there before haven't been changed), this should give a pretty reasonable objective way of looking at the difficulty of achieving a certain tier. Of course, there are many songs where you can't get more than 4 or 5 or 6 points, so this wouldn't be as accurate for the higher levels, but it would probably give a good idea of what the old T4 and T3 (and maybe T2) would correspond to in the new system.
In the old TP list we had 100 songs, so to get to the bottom three tiers you'd need an average of (respectively) 2.7, 3.5, and 4.5 points. Right now we have 120 songs. If we just use the numbers from before they would correspond to 324, 420, and 540 points. I guess what I'm saying is that I think those point values would be about as hard to get to as the old tiers. So if someone can make it to 420 points (T4?) in the new system, they're probably, on average, about as good as someone who could make it to 350 points (T3) in the old system.
