Re: lol english
That's what I'm hoping for.
Considering Mrs. Gordon is the English Department Chair, I would expect her to at least correct my teacher.
Haha, now my mom is about ready to say something to my teacher.
Wouldn't it be in my best interest to wait until administration is involved before bringing my mother into this?Originally posted by TheRapingDragonThe ability to lick the clit and the vagina and apply gentle pressure at the same time with one upward lick is something the small tongued of us can only dream about.Originally posted by spreadNvGot dibs on La Camp.

redorigami: Send her this (I cleaned up the language for you):
I don't mean to be disrespectful -- please let me know if this is the sort of logic you are trying to relay:
Person A: "I'm going to leap out of this window!"
Person B: "Wow, that was an extremely awesome leap!"
In the first sentence, "leap" is clearly a verb.
In the second sentence, even though we're referring to Person A's leap, we don't say "extremely awesome" is describing the verb "to leap." In the second sentence, "leap" is a noun, referring to the ACT of springing/covering distance/whatever you want to call it (see http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/leap). We don't say the second leap is a verb just because this sentence "coincides" with the previous one which used "leap" in the form of a verb. In the second sentence, "leap" is still a noun.
Nouns don't "change" into verbs. They still maintain their structure under proper parts of speech. Adjectives modify nouns and not verbs. Adverbs describe verbs and adjectives.
"Extremely" is an adverb modifying the adjective "valuable." This adjective is modifying the noun "gift." Adjectives cannot modify verbs.
I would let the administration respond first. Mothers are usually a last-resort thing, in my opinion. Whenever it came to teacher disputes, I always found a way to settle it without bringing parents on board. This should be no exception.Comment

Re: lol english
The thing that angers me the most here is that I didn't even do this because I got it wrong.
I put verb, I got the question right. I remembered because I so furiously made this thread earlier in the year.
The fact is, there are over 100 students left to take that exam. And it's a final exam, which means it will count for 1/7 of their entire second semester grade. None of them are going to know what to put. In all honesty, I'm so close to failing right now that that one question COULD have been the difference between my passing or failing the year for English. I'm probably going to end up failing the year now if I get a zero for academic dishonesty or whatever, for the sake of 4 classes of students, who won't be helped.
Oh and thanks Rubix. At the moment I can't do much, she's refusing to listen. Just let her contact administration though, I'll keep that handy for the discussion.Last edited by Redorigami; 06-9-2009, 03:44 PM.Originally posted by TheRapingDragonThe ability to lick the clit and the vagina and apply gentle pressure at the same time with one upward lick is something the small tongued of us can only dream about.Originally posted by spreadNvGot dibs on La Camp.

Everything's been said to sway her, but of course, she's an idiot.

Re: lol english
I've sent her two separate emails, and hour apart, in the last hour and a half, each being as polite as possible, stating that my intents were not personal and that I merely wanted clarification and a chance to help the 4 classes of students who are going to be confused by that question.
She hasn't responded to either.Originally posted by TheRapingDragonThe ability to lick the clit and the vagina and apply gentle pressure at the same time with one upward lick is something the small tongued of us can only dream about.Originally posted by spreadNvGot dibs on La Camp.

Re: lol english
I'm not an English Guru or anything, it doesn't take one to realize it isn't a verb. A verb is like an action word, right? (Yeah, I've got like an English level of a 3rd grader) If she has a gift, that's describing something she has. She isn't doing anything. It's simply something about her. I wouldn't quite know exactly what that would be (Considering my English ability), but I know it's not a verb.Comment

Re: lol english
I am so glad I was on all of my teacher's good sides all throughout high school and college so I could jokingly / seriously tell them when they were wrong and they would actually listen.
I said this way back when, but I'll say it again. It is, and forever shall be, a noun. It cannot be anything else in any context.Comment

Re: lol english
I'm on her good side.
She's the only teacher I've been unable to make any progress with when I try to tell them when they make a mistake. It's really frustrating.Originally posted by TheRapingDragonThe ability to lick the clit and the vagina and apply gentle pressure at the same time with one upward lick is something the small tongued of us can only dream about.Originally posted by spreadNvGot dibs on La Camp.

Re: lol english
Yeah, I was just mad at first and I figured I would send her the link, she would see that people agreed with me, and she would realize she was wrong and just admit it.
Of course she just refused to acknowledge that and things got way out of hand.Originally posted by TheRapingDragonThe ability to lick the clit and the vagina and apply gentle pressure at the same time with one upward lick is something the small tongued of us can only dream about.Originally posted by spreadNvGot dibs on La Camp.

Re: lol english
honestly i think you should consider sending your arguments (as well as a link to that englishforum page a few posts up) to the english dept head and principal yourself rather than counting on your teacher--who probably realizes how wrong she is and refuses to acknowledge it--to go higher up on her own. that way you can avoid her putting her own spin on the situation as well.squirrel--it's whats for dinner.Comment
You are right after all :P
