Religion is easy. French is easy. Religion is a useless class. French, not so useless. Tough it out and just finish high school. If you can't even finish high school, I don't see you finishing many railings and ****.IF I CAN CLIMB A TREE, I CAN CLIMB MT EVEREST. IF I CAN DRIVE A CAR, I CAN PILOT A SPACE SHUTTLE. Re: Dropping out of school..
One merely needs to look at the stats to realize dropping out of high school will do you no good at all. Yes, I agree wholeheartedly that most of the stuff we learn is completely irrelevant and won't serve us in our everyday lives. However, you've gotta at least tough out high school to get your diploma if anything. I would also highly recommend taking some post secondary, whether at a university or trade school is your choice. But hey, this is all your choice. If money or success is not one of your aims in life, then you might as well quit school because it's not getting you anywhere. The only reason I would take a break from school is to go do missionary work in poor countries: but I would still come back in the end to finish my degree.Comment

Re: Dropping out of school..
I think I've posted this once before on these forums, but I have a friend who was 17 and still in the ninth grade. He recently dropped out. Just a couple weeks ago I find out he's committed a felony.
Dropouts are 54% more likely (or something like that) to commit a felony. I'm not saying that you will, but what drives dropouts to do that is the **** life they're having. Do you want a **** life? I don't think so. Stay in school.
I skipped a few pages, but I'll safely bet that 90% of the posters in here would agree with me.

Re: Dropping out of school..
My hatred for school is turning on my parents. I now hate both my parents because they don't understand me at all.
I asked to skip one day. We're going to the computer lab in 2 classes (I play games/lisin' to music instead of doing my projects) , doing a review in one (I don't study, plus I've already finished the review 2 days ago.) and welding, well that's self explanitory. I even told my mom I'd rake the yard and cut the grass, just for her to do one simple phone call.sigpicComment

Re: Dropping out of school..
I was in a similar situation my 11th grade year... I had a 3.6 GPA in a magnet program at my school when I began losing interest and getting involved in things that distracted me heavily from school.
Now, the second half of my junior year was absolute ****. Arguments with teachers, constant calls home for skipping/sleeping in class/being a dickhead in general. Very similar to what you're describing now. I toughed out my junior year and made it half way through my senior year before getting expelled for skipping 54 days in a semester (even though I was still passing my classes)... So I dropped out and got my GED.
WHAT? I DROPPED OUT?! I must be an unintelligent, felony committing scum bag!
Its been two years since I've gone through the process of dropping out, so Ive had much time to reflect on and see the impact that it has on your life. Ive come to the conclusion that I should have done it sooner. Why? Because ultimately the 3 years in highschool were a waste (aside from social interaction and some other important life skills that were obtained in those years), and in the end a GED, which I could have gotten years earlier, turned out to fit my needs fine and well.
In all seriousness, dropping out is not the path to take for someone who could easily complete school. My only regret is that I dropped out for reasons I now consider trivial and stupid (teen angst what?). There was no reason to other than my own laziness which makes me look like a vagina. However, it also made me realize that I should have done it sooner. If you believe, in all seriousness, that you ARE NOT going to make it through high school, then stop dicking around, drop out, and get your GED. Unless you are planning on going to a nice college or getting a scholarship, it doesn't really matter what your diploma says on it. Its a piece of ****ing paper, and all that matters is if you have one. Most places consider a GED or some other alternative diploma to be equivalent to a regular high school diploma.
So if you arent going to make it through school, stop wasting the last few years. Get it over with and get your GED.
Im currently starting community college, which after two years can give me a partial scholarship to a state college in my area, and have not experienced any problems with employment. All with a GED (omg?!)
Moral of the story... Finish if you can. If you dont think you are, drop the **** out and continue with your life. Just make sure you get some type of diploma, whether it be a GED or otherwise, because that piece of paper is all that ****ing matters.Last edited by faynt; 10-17-2008, 07:16 AM.

Re: Dropping out of school..
your reasoning for dropping out is stupid, your laziness will still pursist even without school. you need to stay in school and get your diploma ... then you have the rest of your life to be lazy and live on the internetShould I do it?
I honestly don't see why school is usefull. I'm on the internet so much that I learn more on here than I do at school.
I've gotten to a point where I don't even do my work at school, I talk back to my teachers and I'm getting 50-60's on my tests. I've got the potential to have 90+ averages but I'm way to lazy and see it as a waste of time.
I have no idea what I want to do in life, possibly go into trades, like welding or something, but other than that, I have no clue.
I'd like to here from people who have already dropped out.
Btw, I plan on getting a fulltime job somewhere if I do drop out.Originally posted by PhynxAnd so it was, with this thread that, in 2014 Robertsona will be placed in history via the Legendary Thread section. Re: Dropping out of school..
I had 14 credits to make up in highshool by my senior year. In other words i passed 4 or 5 classes from freshman year to junior year. I got put into this program that would help me graduate in time called nova net. Because of the way this program works i was able to finish 14 credits in a month and a halfs time. I did algebra 2 in 4 hours and i personally never answered a single question, my teacher did them all for me! Look into it though seriously.Comment

Everyone who's saying **** like this to me, are ****ing idiots. Obviously you don't know who I am in real life, so stop trying to make **** up. I'm hardly on the comp, unless it's raining or I have nothing to do. Most of the time I'm gone out.sigpicComment

Re: Dropping out of school..
Yea, exactly, I hate how people say that you're not smart, going to commit crimes, be a bum, not have a life if I drop out, when in reality, I can do just as good as anyone else by getting a GED.
Just like when some kid in my english class said I'm not going to succeed in life because I don't want kids. Honestly, that has nothing to do with succeeding in lifesigpicComment
