****, Destiny, if that was me, I'd go find and kill those ****ers or die trying. But you probably value your life more than I do mine, so that solution is out of the question.

Very sorry about your loss. Even if you can't get your money and belongings back, hopefully they get locked up and buttsecks'd by some inmate with gonorrhea.

why the **** would ANYONE carry a driver's safety book, and then on top of that, who would take it with them, and then, on top of everything, who would leave that?

oh, and btw, that really sucks. and that must be an expensive laptop, cuz i got my 17" laptop with fingerprint recognizer for $1400. You must have a really good laptop then, like maybe a macbook air or something like that.

Wow that is awful. When I was little our house got robbed. The ol' screwdriver in the lock trick. My dad's car got busted into also and he lost about $300 of stereo equipment and CDs. I agree with Chrissi, though, on the "why did you have $23000 in cash in the house". Hope you find the guys who did it, very sorry.
Funny stuff goes in this area right?

Re: My house got robbed and I lost almost $40000 worth of valuables

Thanks everyone for your support. My aunt was devasted to hear that so much money was lost. She actually almost fainted at those words, because you see, she is having much financial problem while my dad is here making hundreds and thousands. That is why he helps here every week, sending money over and his support for her.

My dad isn't fussing over the amount of cash he lost, but more that he lost money which he worked hard for. He worked day in and day out as an employer and managing director/CEO of a pretty big company. He is upset that all that he has worked for, in the end, dropped to nothing. Those endless phone calls, interviews, shipping containers every couple of weeks and loads of paperwork for several months were literally handed over to unknown hands in less than 10 minutes.

Yes, it is very devastating, and for myself as well.

Why do people keep the spare house key outside? It's such a bad idea. Plus, even if they really wanted in, all they would have to do is push a window in.

@topic: That blows dude. Hopefully you find out who did it.

They keep it outside so they can get into the house.

And that sucks Destiny, That must be an expensive laptop and really expensive piano that they actually didn't steal. (Probably because it was hard to carry around :P)

Yeah, if the person didn't watch to see where you hid the key, and if they aren't a family member, then you need to take extra measures against getting stuff robbed, like putting your money in a savings account, or buying a safe that goes into a wall or something.

Well, it's too late for any of us to tell you that something should have been done differently, but you should really keep your keys with you. Alternatively, if you don't want to worry about losing your keys, then get an automatic garage door opener, with an external keypad, and keep a door (from the inside of your house to your garage) unlocked. I find this much more secure because you don't have to keep track of an object.

Sorry that you're in such a horrible situation. I'd be pissed too if someone did this to my family. But like suggested before; go on the show "It Takes A Theif". You'll get a free alarm system (AND you get to be on national TV).
Just give this some time, I'm sure something or somebody will turn up, and you can at least get that bitch of a theif arrested.
                            Best wishes.

My garage has a keypad and you have to enter a certain code to open it

But the front door...... very vulnerable spot.

And I find it very stupid how a thief can persuade his way to not go to jail, and keep the valuables he stole. This person is deriving the money that someone else worked hard for. It's like you did all that work for nothing.

Something similar happened when I was on vacation. My parents didn't really view their credit card uses for gas, but it turned out that someone was in florida and used a credit card with our same number. How do we pay for gas in florida when we're in Mexico? Although this money loss is not nearly as large as Destiny's situation, you can understand what I'm saying here.

Plus, what did you do to the stealers? You probably did nothing bad to them, so why are they doing this to you?

That reminds me of the Brinks home security commercial, where the robber breaks in during the middle of the day. Except the people are home and the robber just runs away for no reason. The very next day, they called Brinks home security. And they got their very own alarm system, part of it free.

And I have a garage door keypad as well, so that works good too. But for the future, keep the key with you and keep the $23,000 cash in a safe, because then they can't get it unless they know the code.

I'd be pissed too if I wasn't able to use my awesome 20" MacBook Air with 10 GB memory and 2,000 GB hard drive. XD. Seriously though, what kind of laptop do you have that costs $5,000?
