So yeah, as you can see pretty varied.

I'm sorry, I meant progressive rock. They're definitely not progressive metal. I had just gotten through saying black metal, power metal, folk metal, etc., so it was an easy mistake to make.

Most people will classify DragonForce as power metal (or some will actually say progressive metal), but they're an honest-to-god rock group. I don't even know why they were mentioned in this thread.

For power metal, it sure lacks power. I never considered them much of a power metal band, but if you want to go by the literal genre, then I guess that is what they are classified as. If you want some real power metal, go listen to Iced Earth.

What about progressive metalcore or mathcore? Stuff like Between the Buried and Me, Protest the Hero, The Dillinger Escape Plan. I think that would probably be it, but I do like metalcore (real metalcore, not like A7X and stuff).

There's too much splintering in genres, especially metal and techno. You can't expect the OP to know all of them off the top of their head. If the necessary research were to be done, this poll would be absurdly large. There isn't any point in adding all of them anyway, the votes would be too few to decide anything based on them. Just generalize your music, even if it hurts inside. The moment will pass.
