He was such a good Mr Conductor on Thomas the Tank Engine.

          This is sad news.

He wasn't my favourite comedian but he was definitely watchable. I enjoyed his stuff.

too bad he was incredibly funny. Sad to see a lot of people saying they don't know who he is, you gotta be UUA or something to have not known George Carlin, the guy is too big to just not know.

It's like asking who is Synthlight after being a member of the community for years..

This kind of just screwed up my day. Such a sad day in the life of political and social commentators. I had the privilege of seeing him live, and I'm glad I did. His comedy/prose just has a much bigger impact seeing him live than watching him on a DVD, listening to a CD, or reading one of his books. I'm gonna go sit down and read Orgy Of George in his memory.

Amen to that. May have seen one or two of his works.

His article on Netscape was the first thing I saw when I opened Mozilla this morning >_<

Trivia: In Bill and Ted, Carlin never actually told them his name was Rufus; the only reason they knew is because their future selves yelled his name as soon as they arrived.

Hardly. This guy was pretty much anti-religious in every aspect. Funny, but highly anti-religious.
