Trying not to get too dug into things, I've chosen "IDK" because of the following reaons: FFR and Stepmania have weird and twisted user made tracks. Yes, some are nice but it's only properly fun when you can do what sad people do and show off on YouTube having people call you "Asian", or hear yourself tapping on video and think to yourself "I am the one". This is what competitors think anyway, I don't know what the others think.
Guitar Hero on the other hand, has proffesionally made charts and well done tracks. The only bad side to it though is the fact that it hurts your wrist, it also winds you up when you suck.
Basically, both games rock, it just sucks to suck!
No rhythm game is inherently more difficult than any other rhythm game, engine-wise. It all depends on the charts in each respective game and what each game expects of you.
As there is no predefined measure for what it means to "beat" FFR like there is in GH, you really can't make any reasonable comparison between their difficulties. For example, stick the notes in EHHS into GH's engine and you have a completely impossible file that less than 10 people could ever pass. Does this mean GH is harder than FFR? Of course not.

Well, this seems more like a personal opinion poll, maybe not so much which one is really harder, because even if there was a way to compare the two, people would find one thing harder to do than another.
It's true even within the same game sometimes, my girlfriend actually plays Guitar Hero with a standard dual shock controller. She says the guitar is too hard, but maybe somebody else would say the controller is much harder. Also, Guitar Hero has changed over games, FFR is still essentially one game, just with many levels.
Well, I don't really know anyway (I picked IDK) because I've never played Guitar Hero, it's more my girlfriend's game there.

I do believe FFR is harder. Mostly because when I started FFR, it took me about a year and a half before I got really good (like, FMO/FGO). On GH, it took me about 2 months to master expert.
Also, just a note: You used bad grammar in the poll.
I like air-guitaring so now I just air-guitar-hero...ing
Harder? FFR. More fun after a wile? Stepmania. Things I can obess over? Guitar Hero
Guitar Hero is fun after you get the hang of it but I like is FFR and DDR and stepmania. Those games where you have to move your whole body to play is difficult but once you get it down you can do it in your sleep.

It also took me a long time to get a hang of using a computer arrows but after I got it down I was able to do alot of song like nothing after all before I started to play FFR I was always playing DDR at my home, I can play for 2-3 hours straight without stopping.
Given the numbers, Guitar Hero has like 60 songs and about 10 are really hard on expert difficulty. FFR has about 500 songs. About 70 are pretty damn hard to FC and about 350 are kinda hard to AAA which is the equivalent of an FC in Guitar Hero.
The Guitar Hero series has 211 songs counting only the PS2 versions of the games, and over 250 counting the 360 versions and DLC. That isn't counting Rock Band's guitar parts, which are essentially the same thing--counting those would put the tally at close to 400 counting DLC. Also, as each song has four charts compared to FFR's one (A fair comparison I think, as songs like Mario/Free Space can only be compared to GH songs on Easy), the number of charts in the series is over 1000 counting DLC, and over 1500 counting Rock Band. Not very close to 60, is it?
Regardless, GH FC's are significantly easier than FFR AAA's to begin with, but much harder than FFR FC's. It is INSANELY difficult to fully optimalize score on any GH song. I have no idea where you got the idea that GH FC's = FFR AAA's, since it's not close to correct--one is hitting every note, and one is optimalizing score.
