For my thing it's eating a bag of popcorn then play right after. it greases up your keyboard and you lose your finger grip. Yes I just did that, tried to play rottel, and I mess up badly.

greasing up the keyboard actually makes it easier for one handers who use a laptop keyboard because you can slide your middle finger on the up and down arrows fast

as for something not to do, play challenges or multiplayer with itchy eyes

Don't do what I do when I know there's a break in a song coming. I usually rub my right index finger with my thumb and I almost always mess up because of that. Also, don't bite your lip. =/
