I almost got it pre-ordered. Just a little more money into it, and all I'll have to do is walk in and grab it on release date.

All you have to do is walk into gamestop or some other game store and say "Can I preorder Super Smash Bros. Brawl" then they will take your number and name and you need to put atleast $5 down as down payment to guarantee your copy on launch date. They will also call you when they receive the game and then you can go back to the store to pick it up.

I 100% completed the game. I don't care if you "rofl" at it because I didn't have to play against aZnXPika4Marth or whoever you constantly talk about. I spent days getting all 290 trophies. Then I got them all and I was done with the game. So I started playing --gasp-- *other* games!

My Gamecube library is at 42 games now. I've 100% completed at least half. I don't have the time to continuously play one game over and over again if I ever care to play other games to completion or beyond. After I 100%d it, it turned into a game to play when friends were over and nothing more.
I did all that, too... and I still play other games. lol ..but I meant really in-depth into the game. I just decided to see how far I could take one game.

I can't imagine that just for Super Smash Brothers, people are all like "oh, that was a splendid match old chap!" "righto! Care for a cup of tea, lad?"

Ok, since it happens in two shooters, in should definitely happen in every game...

From my understanding, people in Halo and CS will do most of their training in online play, without ever seeing most of the people they're going to play against. SSBM players train with each other, they get to know each other.

Also, you can't "100% complete SSBM." Sure, you can 100% complete the material aspect of the game by getting all the trophies, bonuses, etc...but can you consistently moving desynch the ICs? Can you consistently double missle with Samus (in one jump), or consistently SH double lazer with Fox? What about performing Ness' jacket attacks?

Your argument against 100% SSBM does not make any sense at all.

PS: I pre-ordered on the Gamestop website, and its gonna be shipped to me directly.

                  Uh.

I did everything the developers put into the game toward completion ratio. That makes it a 100%.

Who the crap cares if I can perform glitches on command? Oh right, tourneybums who need wavedashing to compete.

Also, video gamers tend to play more than one game. The same people who play Halo online may just play Counter Strike when Halo is boring. Or Day of Defeat. Or Gears of War. Or Super Smash Brothers Melee.

Well, that's partially true. Although my friend plays and beat SSBM and moves on to games like Gears of War and Phantasy Star, that doesn't mean he won't come back to it to play it from time to time. It really depends on the attention span of the gamer to constantly play a certain game for a long time, or getting a new one.

So it turns out some prominent figures in the gaming industry actually thought about an all-genre tournament of gaming for a REAL test of skill.

Looks like the confirmed games so far are Halo 2, Tekken (? I don't play Tekken / Virtua Fighter =x), Sonic 2, Pac-Man, Street Fighter, and Madden.
