stepmania has no concept of alternate keyboard layouts because it's a program from 2001 and every developer has managed to use QWERTY as far as I can tell.

the fail mode thing is a known issue and is already fixed for the next version (by getting rid of every fail mode that isn't immediate).

the NPS thing is currently impossible to properly calculate...
