official easy < lr2 easy ~= official groove < lr2 groove
official hard < lr2 hard < official ex-hard
official dan < lr2 dan (life regen is horrible :<)

LR2 easy might be a bit easier than...

I'm not sure if Tetris NES worked that way...
Didn't know about the recent randomizer, I prefer the one used in TGM though, works well and still gives room for unexpected pieces.

Well, by old-school I mean both old games, and recent games with an old school gameplay.
So my favourite would be Etrian Odyssey III (a somewhat hard D-RPG). Even if this game has been made in 2007...
