    LCD Monitor Repair

Today I embarked on one of my many trips to a secondhand store, and was surprised when I found this gem. $28.50 for a high-end 22" monitor was a steal, no doubt about it.

Unfortunately, I couldn't test it at the store, but it doesn't have a single scratch on the screen or the frame; it was very clean. I've never bought used electronics (locally) that didn't work, and some of the stuff I've bought looked like it was left out in the desert.

Anyway, I took it home, hooked it up, it stayed on for two seconds (beautiful picture btw) but then the screen went black. If I got within two inches of the screen I could barely see my desktop, so I'm thinking it's a bad backlight.

Is it worth it to repair this or just get rid of it? Also since I don't know dick about electronics, where can I go to get this repaired? Obviously it's not under warranty so I can't send it to Acer, but would a store like Best Buy be able to help me out for a small fee?
The monitor in question is an Acer X221W, manufacture date June 2007. I have 14 days to take it back for store credit.
