I wont be able to play this since school is starting for me tomorrow and I have to get some sleep right now but when I have free time on the weekend I look forward to attempting all of them XD
Best AAA = Aballava(?) + Serious Shit (97) Best SDG = Fushigi Usagi Milk Tei 8-0-0-3 (101) Best Score = do i smile? 3-0-0-3 (100)
I only played through a few tonight. I'll try the rest tomorrow (:
SOLROS - Even though I quit competitive play, I will still try and AAA Solros on my laptop. I got 2-0-1-0 on it sightread and I know I will get that AAA! For others, I know this file might be sloppy, so my apologies.
do I smile? - I expected this to be difficult as well. At least the patterns were somewhat generous! I have no speed, so that stream in the middle is going to be the hell of me.
Music (for Kirby) - There is something about this file that makes it very catchy and I just can't point on it. That jumpglut ending is cruel though :'(
Rave7 - If I have the speed to even attack those 24ths, this file might be enjoyable. Not a bad file. Very technical for my liking.
This is totally my favorite round out of all of them. I basically loved every single file, and they're all super difficult which I also like. Reviews!
Throwing Fire
Kickass song, well stepped file, what's not to like?
Those gallop/grace note things, while definitely appropriate, are certainly quite easy to split. I actually feel quite lucky to have sightread AAA it.
Overall very well made and a great addition to the game.
Fish Hell
First impression: song has a hilarious name.
After playing it, this is basically how it goes: I love jack files, so I love this file.
It's well done, the 1-handed anchors are not too nasty, the patterns flowed well, and the song kicked ass as expected for any song named "Fish Hell".
Overall, 10/10 will play again (almost got a nice sightread BF it but I fell apart in one of the last set of jumpjacks, damn)
Tiebreaker- Treasure Planet
Great fairly fast broken jumpstream file. The JS patterns were superb (except for one kinda mean 1-handed trill in the middle lol) and the bursts and hands were used very well.
Had an EHHS feel to it but with less annoying one handed stuff and more awesome. I approve.
SOLROS
Um, does D3 have some sort of tropical theme here? lmao
This was an EXCELLENT file. Great patterns, great sync, just... super well-made.
I wasn't a huge fan of the minijack ending the first time around but that's because I wasn't prepared for it. After giving it another spin it was definitely appropriate for the music so I can't complain much. Absolutely a great file, and a catchy song too ^_^
Music (For Kirby)
Quite fun, and not too many bmah transitions(tm). There was a set of hand minijack hand sandwiches in the middle slow section which were a little weird, but overall nothing too bad. Except the ending.
THAAAAAAAAAAAT ending... I'm calling this now, nobody in D4 will clean SDG. There may be SDGs, but they are going to be messy as shit because of that ending.
My favorite parts of the file were the polyrhythm stuff at the beginning (which I sightread AAA'd!) and the 270 bpm stream. The stream had appropriate patterns and it's just the right speed for me to really push myself on.
Overall, I wouldn't mind having this as my final round! Oh well
Scrap Syndrome
Who is this Yuyuu? Whoever they are, they've certainly made some great songs which have made for some great files.
I actually laughed for real at the two massive trills, they were totally appropriate just kinda funny how they NEVER ENDED. A nice touch, and certainly quite memorable!
In general, I felt the patterns were good. This file seems to not be as dense as Pandora, but obviously much longer and more relentless.
Tiebreaker- do i smile?
The speedup was handled PERFECTLY. Great stepping for what could have been a total mess.
Loved the song, and the pattern choices were good.
This would certainly be a 13 except that, just like Husigi Usagi Milk Tei, it's easy to cheat the rolls on FFR.
That 320 bpm stream was pretty fckin intense though, not gonna lie!
Rave7
My baby :')
Honestly it isn't as dumpy hard as I expected, dare I even say it turned out pretty fun haha
There's two really dumb left hand transitions that converted weird, one of them right at the end, but overall I am pleased with how the breakcore section turned out.
Honestly it almost seems a little too easy for a 13, but what do I know.
One of only four 13s in the game which is cool if it lasts. (vrofl doesn't count, it's like a goddamn 18 and you know it)
In the end I'm just super happy to get Rave7 into FFR, AND officially released for SM in the Winter Pack both on the same day. So cool.
do i smile? is certainly much better than the DF chart. However the 16th stream before the 4th speedup has some ass transitions. I can definitely see this as a low 13.
Rave7 is awesome, the ending has high splitting factor but w/e it's a good last round file
Scrap Syndrome looks so much better to play than Music (For Kirby), although the 32nd transitions are lulzy. Music (For Kirby) on the other hand really just ruins the feel of the song with all the forced minijack anchors. bmah, sorry to say, but this totally kills the flow of your files, Halcyon and Camel especially
I have to say Rave7 is the best out of the FGO+ releases this round. It really is basically the only reasonable file in terms of relatively consistent difficulty without massive pattern abuse.
