Dr. Conrad Murray is GUILTY of Involuntary Manslaughter

What's your take on the verdict? Like? Dislike? Opinion?

edit: He faces a sentence of up to four years in prison. He could also lose his medical license.

Any backstory? What exactly constitutes "involuntary" manslaughter?

"Involuntary manslaughter is the unlawful killing of a human being without malice aforethought. It is distinguished from voluntary manslaughter by the absence of intention."

I dunno what distinguishes voluntary manslaughter and murder, though.

Anyways, to the point, I have changed my stance drastically since this post.

This definition sounds awfully familiar to the definition of an "accident".

Edit: So I looked up the story and I don't see how this is the doctors fault. It is almost like an accidental assisted suicide. So basically it is Micheal Jackson fault for demanding unsafe usage of drugs. The only thing the doctor should be charged for is malpractice.

But it is Murray's fault for giving him the drugs.

So, if I ask you to give me a gun so I can kill myself. It is your fault for giving it to me?

""If it were anybody else but Michael Jackson, would this doctor be here today?" lead defense lawyer Ed Chernoff asked in his closing."

Think about this for a minute. How true is this? Medicine overdoses are given to several people yearly, with little complaints, and some of the evidence points towards a self-administration of the drugs.

If I'm a government appointed gun distributer with legal obligations to distribute them responsibly probably. This doctor gave Jackson a rediculous amount of painkillers that would only be required for recreational purposes as opposed to medical needs. I think Jackson is more at fault here but he's dead. The doctor was just useing his status to help Jackson with his drug habits, and the doctor obiously knew all of this because there are recordings of him talking to Jackson while he's so drugged up you can barely understand him, if he's making any sense at all that is. I think a few years in jail and a revoked license is understandable but I hope he doesn't get the full 4 years since I doubt he'll do it again anyway.

He'll most likely get a year and a half, from what most have been speculating.

I really am curious about this too. Did Michael Jackson's status influenced the court system to lean towards justice for the Jackson family? If it wasn't Michael, but a random person, would it make any difference?

The quote that rayword45 posted is probably one of the most thoughtful I've read in a while. It makes me wonder if the same thing can be done for regular people.
