    Secret / Purchased / Legacy

    Introduction

Hello FFR public, I’ve been thinking about this a little bit recently, and I’m sure it’s been brought up numerous times. This may seem somewhat dumb to you that someone actually cares about this, or even thought about it. But this is something that does need to be addressed eventually.

I feel this is pretty simple. I simply think a few things about the genres need slight reworking. I have no idea how long this would take to do, or how important on the coder’s list of priorities this would be, but hey, throwing it out as an idea can’t hurt right?

    The Secret Genre

Am I the only one who sees the list of songs in secret and wonders why songs of lower difficulty are harder to obtain than songs of higher difficulty?

    - In short: Why do I need 23,000 credits to obtain Honki Sentai Majirenjaa – Eurobeat Version- a 12, when I need 25,000 credits to play k8107?

    - I understand the Song Of The Years, Max Forever ect being special exceptions, and my suggestion is rather than keep them in the Secret Genre, I suggest moving them to the Purchased Genre. It’d make a lot more sense for the sake of sorting this genre.

Now, being difficulties of each chart are subjective, this list can be debated. I’m not saying to go by this list on the dot, but this is a pretty general idea.

Note: The following songs have been removed due to the fact they belong in the Legacy genre. (Something else I will be touching on later.)

    1. Burnout
    2. Fette’s Vette
    3. Water Like Pudding
    4. Synesthetic FFR Edit
    5. Green Twilight FFR Edit
    6. Abtrusity
    7. Visions (NRGyzd mix)
    8. For FFR

The following songs are removed from the list due to being Song Of The Year

    1. Max Forever (2,006 credits)
    2. 2008 (2,008 credits)

Note: This list is in fact in order of what I think to be the correct difficulty progression. I won’t go so far as to suggest a credit count for this, but I would like to recommend that the first and last song’s counts remain the same to leave room for adding newer songs into the blanks. The only song that costs more than Karma as of right now, should be any added difficulty 13 chart.

    Remaining songs:

    1. {Lazy Summer Days}
    2. La Luna Caida
    3. Ingenuity
    4. Noir Remixed
    5. FFR Evolution
    6. Betrayer Of Fate
    7. Force of Light
    8. Automata
    9. Yukitsuklyashou
    10. Hyper Presure
    11. Song Of The Second Moon
    12. Csikos Post
    13. Radiant
    14. Summer -Speedy Mix-
    15. Destination Unknown
    16. Gaussian Blur 3
    17. Voodoo People
    18. Shining Sky
    19. Mute City Remix
    20. Kick Your A
    21. Blue Noah
    22. Gradeus
    23. Lawn Wake IV
    24. End Night
    25. Shihen
    26. Fast Asleep
    27. Camel
    28. Blue Army
    29. Guitar Sounds
    30. Szerencsetlen
    31. K8107
    32. Ark
    33. Rottel-Da-Station
    34. Puzzle
    35. Grocery Escape Plan
    36. Midnight Dragon
    37. Flesvelka
    38. Staring at my Spaceship
    39. He's A Radical Rat
    40. Arrogant Cobbler
    41. Hellhounds On My Trail
    42. Strangeprogram
    43. Cinnamon Roll
    44. World Tour 2004
    45. Final Fantasy Last Battle Festival
    46. Honki Sentai Majirenjaa -MAJI Eurobeat Version-
    47. Blue Rose
    48. Chik Habit
    49. Pants
    50. Jamais Deux
    51. Red Wings Over Baron
    52. ==Planet KARMA==

    The Purchased Genre

When I look at the prices of the songs in this genre, I am disgusted at the lack of care given to thinking about these prices being on the whim of random thought.
I am purposing we either make the prices for the difficulty static (as in the difficulty 1-13 determines the price) or at least some method is put here, because as it stands, it’s – to be frank – stupid.

TL;DR: Why the world would I pay 1000 for an 11 (AIM Anthem) and 10,000 for a 12 (Holy Orders.)

Important: Know that these songs would be moved to Legacy where they belong.

    1. Aim Anthem
    2. Silence
    3. Party 4 U V2 (Holy Nite Remix)

Also important: The following songs should be added to the genre, but are not included in the above song count.

    1. MaxX Forever (2,006 credits)
    2. 2008 (2,008 credits)

Note: The credit counts for these charts being purchased is kept the same from being moved from Secret. These charts are special and thus do not abide by the plans I recommend.

    Plan A: Static Price

This list is in the following format:

Difficulty. Credit Price for song of this difficulty (Number of songs on this range)

    1. 175 (0)
    2. 300 (2)
    3. 425 (1)
    4. 550 (6)
    5. 675 (0)
    6. 800 (3)
    7. 925 (1)
    8. 1,000 (5)
    9. 1,500 (12)
    10. 2,000 (5)
    11. 2,500 (8)
    12. 3,000 (3)
    13. 5,000 (0)

Note: The prices listed here are just a thought. I am not saying USE THIS YOU IDIOTS I’m just throwing my recommendation out. What I am going for is accessibility to how much you’d actually care to play songs of these difficulties. Paying anything more than 200 credits for a level 1 chart seems really stupid to me; but paying 10,000 for ONE 12 also doesn’t make sense to me either. Consistency is usually good, but I really think it might be a little too difficult to assign a price to difficulty.

TL;DR: Not really a fan of this plan, but multiple options for this need to be thrown out.

Plan B: A Thought Out Price

In short there needs to be a method to the pricing. Questions like this should not arise “Why is field of Snow [Light] 100 credits and is a difficulty 4, but tower is a difficulty 2 and costs 200?” Just little fallacies in pricing that I noticed and always found odd.

TL;DR: Prices shouldn’t be THAT random, but are still random song pending.

    The Legacy Genre

I have said this at least three times in the suggestions thread. I’ll gladly pitch it one more time while you’re here.

Why in the living world do Legacy songs appear in both the Token level ranks, AND the Public level ranks. For the love of god pick one and keep them there. If you ask me: I prefer the token ranks. These charts can’t be taken seriously anymore, and they’re kept in the game for nostalgia. Not because these charts are actually good. (Come on the arrows are all blue, one song has an issue in being able to read it because of a video, for the love of god fix this please.)

    In short:

    1. Secret Genre needs a reorder by difficulty.
    2. Songs with BNS (Blue Note Syndrome) should be finished being removed from the genres of Secret and Purchased into the Legacy Genre.
    3. Purchased Genre needs a way to decide the prices of songs. I suggested two options.
    4. Fix the level ranks for Legacy Genre charts.
    5. Songs Of The Year should be moved to Purchased and priced the same as the credits to play them in Secret were previous.

    Final statement

I do not know how long it would take to change all of this; but I'd like to offer that if I can help anymore on these issues, I'd love to try helping out. Thank you everyone for your attention. Even if you skipped to the "In short" section.

Read the whole dang thing. Interesting thoughts, not really much of anything I've ever cared about a whole lot other than the Legacy files being in both ranks.

Interesting idea, but I'd definitely rethink the progression of the FGO area in the most objective way possible, and that's overall FC/AAA count. Red Wings Over Baron should easily be the most expensive on your list.

I definitely like static amounts for purchased songs unless that have some sort of special meaning. You actually might be onto something.

          Static pricing is lame.

Each song should have an individual price- lets it be more unique and some songs can be big rewards you have to work up to. However, there should be more thought put into them instead of having 3s that cost like 10000 credits or whatever bullshit we have now.

I agree on having legacy in token level ranks only since not only are these songs not fun or good in any sense but are a lot harder then their difficulty say for example "100 Bar Blackout" it is a level 3 song that goes on for 3:42 it's out of sync and it has unpredictable mini jacks...totally a level 3...

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Legacy songs aren't tokens, therefore they DO NOT belong in the token levelranks.

Also, isn't WT2004 a "Song of the Year" with a 20,004 credit req?

Think about it for a second. Would WT2004 have been added in 2004?

Extremely long song that's actually on-sync, well stepped, BPM changes... no.
I think the 20,004 req is just a cute reference to the name of the song, nothing more.

2008 wasn't added in 2008. If he's classifying that as a song of the year, then so would WT2004.

WT wasn't released in 2004, but it was still considered a song of the year at the time of its release (scroll to the bottom): http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/page/12/

I think the general point he's trying to make is that if you're going to make credit requirements based on a year in the title of the song or the release date of the song, it should be in purchased and that the secret genre should be ordered from easiest to hardest without confusing inconsistencies created by MAX Forever, 2008, and WT2004.

EDIT: I guess the credit req is 20,009, thus making it a true SotY.

Guys before you jump on the train of OH MY GOD HE IS WRONG HUR HUR (Not saying anyone did, but before this happens)

I tried to do the songs of the year from memory. My bad XD

I'd love for the corrections to that be linked nicely like Alloyus (Helps me be as specific as I can be in fact if someone found the link for MaxX Forever I'd appreciate it.)

I'll fix this OP later today, as I should be getting ready for classes.

I'm gonna try to sum up everyone's posts to this point though

                          1. Middie got a song of the year wrong. He should fix that.
                          2. Middie missed a Song Of The Year, fix that you jerk...
                          3. It sounds like everyone is leaning towards a smarter non static pricing for Purchased

So with those I'm gonna ask these as well.

                          1. Does anyone have a recommendation on the secret genre credit requirements (as in a list of suggested prices each song.)
                          2. What is a list of recommended prices per song in purchased?

If you'd all be kind enough to provide these, I think maybe I'll start adding them to the OP in a spoiler.

For anyone who thinks they have just way too many credits that's probably because

                            a) You were extremely lucky back during the credit gambling time period
                            b) You won a disproportionately large amount of tournaments
                            or
                            c) You've been playing for a very very long time

You do not represent the average FFR player and continuing to make credits artificially scarcer only serves to further the gap between an artificial "elite" who already hoard credits and everybody else.

Instead of proposing means to further distance the community, I propose that instead if this description fits you, that you contribute to the community.

Host tournaments. Contribute credits to tournaments. Invent new forum games with credit prizes. Encourage site participation in creative events. You could always just give credits away as well -- there's no need to be selfish.
