Blacklight: Retribution (and other upcoming FPSes)

I'm making this thread as more of a general FPS discussion, but centered around this upcoming game.

The five or six of you who truly know me well know that I've played Combat Arms since OB launch and for the most point I've enjoyed it. I started a clan two months in and now we've been on the top 100 for almost two years. Unfortunately, last week my Ventrilo subscription expired and I had no money to renew it, which was the nail in the coffin for my clan. CA has been getting progressively worse by which I mean a ton of nonsense updates, consistently broken promises to the players, and little or no improvements against the overwhelming amounts of hackers.

I'm trying to get my Vent back up ASAP, but it looks like my clan is done in CA. Only a few of us actually enjoy playing it anymore. We're looking for a new game for us to embrace, and we've tried a couple of MMORPGs in the past but they just don't click for us as well as shooters do. The closest we came was Project Blackout, until SGI made the Cash Shop weapons greatly overpowered.

So anyway, enough of my whining. I've watched the trailer half a dozen times and while I'm a bit leery, I'm thinking this game could be the one that replaces my three years of Combat Arms. Historically I'm not a fan of futuristic shooters, but at this point I'm willing to try anything. The release date is slated for "Q4 2011" which means that it should be here in the next couple of months.

First post will be updated as more info on BL:R appears.

Well, I've always wanted to try Blacklight: Tango Down because it looked neat. This game looks pretty nice as well.

I alpha tested Battlefield 3 and it's quite fantastic. Pretty much fixed everything that was wrong with BC2.

RO2 is pretty great as well, played the beta.

"Oh, just my cock." Replied Foil.
"That just will not do." was keywii's response as she lunged for the scissors, pulled the blades apart, and clamped them down on the base of foil's shaft. Blood start gushing out of the wound where his penis used to be.
    "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Yelled Foil in horror.
"Don't worry. I'm a wizard" uttered Keywii. And with that, Foil's penis grew back.

Oh yeah, Planetside 2 is in development as well. I'm looking forward to that as well.

Yes, Planetside 2 should be really good. I liked the first one but unfortunately my computer back then was poops and couldn't run it well.

Bumping this cause I got accepted into the closed Beta for Blacklight: Retribution. If enough people are interested and I can get a little less lag, I'd be willing to make a video of me sucking horribly at gameplay.

I realize there was no interest after my last post on the game, but BLR just went open beta today, so yep. We'll see how things go.

Oh awesome. My friend told me that the OB was starting in early March. He got into CB but I didn't, and he said he really enjoyed it. Too bad I have a ton of homework tonight
Also for anyone else looking for another good free fps, check out Repulse from Aeria Games.

Re: Blacklight: Retribution (and other upcoming FPSes)

Bumping from a year ago, rather than making a new thread. Does anyone on FFR play this? I picked it up again recently and was just curious as to whether or not anyone else picked it up.

It's still f2p, download it through Steam etc. It's a pretty well-done fps in my opinion (although the spawn system on some of the maps sucks and you'll get spawned in some really shitty situations occasionally) and worth checking out if you're looking for a new game to play.

I'm on there a lot, just add me and I'll invite you to games or join you if you are on when I am (justinator).
