    Intelligent theories on what's next?

There's been a lull in the new stuff of FFR lately, despite the recent strings of coolness (mods, vivid arrows, new song every day.)

Synth isn't the kind of guy who would let us down in an anticlimactic way like this. There's something really, really huge up his sleeve - there has to be.

Remember the flash demo of R2, when Synth said that there was going to be some revolutionary new feature in .68 that wasn't R2?

Well I have a great deal of evidence that suggests that the big new thing for FFR is right around the corner. Here's why I think this is so:

    1) Only 1 new song recently (Color of Battle)
    2) That song didn't have vivid arrows
    3) NeoMAX didn't have vivid arrows near the end, Synth said this was because the 12th arrows were uploaded wrong and would be fixed soon. They weren't.
    4) Only a few mods have been introduced, and some of the others on the list Synth has specifically said are impossible with the current engine (namely holds)
    5) The "Mods" thing on the score screen is WAY too small to hold all the mods assuming new ones come out in this release.
    6) Synth made a .675, making it appear that this release is just to tide us over until .68

Based on all this, I assume Synth's line of thinking is "I'll just add it in the new release, it's coming soon."

Therefore, I'm guessing .68, and with it R2, aren't too far around the corner.

Anyone have ideas or thoughts on this?

REMEMBER THIS IS SPECULATION, NOTHING OF THIS IS FACT, IT'S ALL THEORIES RIGHT NOW

i have no clue what .68 will bring, i cant even think.

But if i have to guess, i would say speed mods, synth has allways expressed how hard those were.

maybe real time challenging? i think i heard that was impossible somewhere, but w/e lol. question: do the arrows travel the same up/down speed in every song? i'm an idiot, but they really seem like they do.

They do, jusst you can alter how MANY go up and down

BMP changes are supported in r2 and MAYBE .68 (currently it all runs on 1/12th and i dunno what the set bmp is but its not very fast )

no the arrows slow down in some songs... the one I'm thinking of is la luna caida, where the last two arrows are clearly at a slower bpm than the others. The same thing might also happen in fett's vette.

La Luna Caida is the ONLY song where it slows down. And by the looks of it Synth was just seeing what it would be like if there were BPM slowdowns currently.

Actually I noticed a slight BPM change in one of the dance songs, I forget which one.

well, BPM changes (at least as they are now) look like poop. maybe b/cs it's in flash, idunno, but at lower BPMs you can see each block that the arrow moves. when he does implement BPM changes, he'll have to make it look much smoother than it looks now, or else it will look like total crap.

as for my guess about what will happen, idunno. double or solo mode, maybe? custom key mappings (and pad usage as a result)? new interface? oni mode? just a few guesses.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O
