Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves deserve to be mentioned as well.

It's the only ps3 game I'll ever allow myself to buy. One of my favorite games of all time, totally worth a buy.

Edit: Littlebigplanet is actually a really good game I'd definitely get that one too. Play it with a friend though.

Would they have to be exclusive to the PS3, or just anything available?

If anything just available, then I'd suggest:
- Call Of Duty: Black Ops - sure, it's a typical war-based first person shooter, but the multiplayer option is definitely worthy when playing with a couple of friends, in my opinion. You can create different classes and modify the smallest of details before fighting against your friends. The campaign mode is rather good too.

- Uncharted 1 - 2 - popular adventure games and with a legitimate reason too: the plot is exciting and cinematic, but not too much that it seems pretentious (it has humour too); there are quite a few secret areas and unlockable content too; and to put it bluntly, I haven't played a good adventure game like this since the original Tomb Raider games.

- Metal Gear Solid 4 - if you've ever played the series, this is essential. No doubt about it.

- Heavy Rain - cinematic; enigmatic; tense; disturbing; thrilling - I could pick more adjectives to describe the gameplay and plot of this game. It's definitely a worthy original to the PS3, with so many choices and opportunities: after completing it, if you play it again, I can safely assume you will not get the same outcome again (unless if, y'know, aimed at getting the same outcome again, but then that's not as fun now, is it?)

- H.A.W.X 1 - 2 - I didn't think I would enjoy these games as much as I did really - I'm not really the biggest fan of Tom Clancy video games (with the exception of Splinter Cell), but there was something I enjoyed about H.A.W.X. It might not be to everybody's liking really, but it has tension and action.

- If you're a fan of racing games, then I'll suggest you try out Gran Torismo 5 - it's great fun on multiplayer, with a fair variety of cars; courses (some you may recognise from GT 4); and even a cool soundtrack that features Yeah Yeah Yeahs and **** Buttons. A fun game for the weekend with friends, and this is coming from a person who does not enjoy racing games at all!

Me and my buds were playing heavy rain the other day. Fricken awesome game I always wanted them to die but noooo, they had to be good people and make everyone live.

3D dot game heroes - if you're a fan of the classic zelda games, you'll love this.

Blur - if you like racing games, think need for speed + mario kart. Very fun. Gran Turismo is also pretty good.

Super Street Fighter 4 - pretty much a must have if you like fighting games.

Final Fantasy 13 - If you're a fan of the series, you'll probably like it. A bit linear, but has an amazing battle system.


A warning about Demon's Souls - interesting game, however; the infamous 'difficulty' doesn't really come from the gameplay itself. Rather, it comes from the fact you can't save within levels. This can be incredibly irritating and if you're prone to impatience I would avoid this game altogether. With that said, it's pretty cool if you get into it.
