Where's Xelius when you need him? I realize this is a bug that won't be fixed til probably way later, but urgh, it's almost as annoying as avmisses themselves.

Re: Avmisses on replays
I don't think it's hard to fix, I'm pretty sure you'd just have to change the version of the ffrReplay.swf to accommodate for the fix of average-misses (i.e. not use an old version of the engine).Comment

Re: Avmisses on replays
This isn't a bug. It's exactly known why it does that, and there are actually a couple reasons to want to leave it, but if nothing else, be aware that we know it does, and why it does.Comment

Re: Avmisses on replays
devonin is right - the av-miss replays actually serve as a visual anti-cheat as well. That's a huge reason to keep the engine.
Would it be possible to have two separate engine loaders, leaving the members with the fixed one and keeping the partially "broken" one?Comment

Re: Avmisses on replays
I think it's crap that we're keeping replays broken just as a preventative measure when there could be other ways to detect cheating. You can't AAA any decent 10+ without avmisses wrecking the replay, and that effects a greater part of FFR than the cheaters. ESPECIALLY when it's not a hard fix.

I'll say the same thing I say to everyone else - if you can't fix it yourself, stop whining about it. It's already been addressed by an administrator and it may get fixed in the future.Comment

Re: Avmisses on replays
Halogen you assume everyone has access to the files or something. Many of these fixes aren't hard, but it's not like anyone but the admins can do anything about this, here. Plenty of people have the capability to fix this stuff.
I still maintain there should be an option to watch a replay in both avmiss and non-avmiss format.Comment

Re: Avmisses on replays
So nobody's allowed to make a bug report/suggestion without having coding/programming skills? Sorry, didn't know that that was how this forum was run... you can go around to all the threads not made by a site admin and tell them that they can't complain/suggest anything anymore.
The point of this thread wasn't to bicker, it was to resurface a problem now that things are actually getting done around here. By "saying the same thing you say to everyone else" you're kind of killing the concept of a bug report forum by enacting a rubix-type attitude in saying basically 'shut up, learn your **** and come talk to me.' It's a good philosophy in some instances. This is not one of them.

Re: Avmisses on replays
Again, this has always been my main gripe with FFR:
1. Problem exists, or feature is desired
2. Suggestions made
3. "We've got everything under control, be patient -- we have guys working on it"
4. Time passes, nothing happens or materializes
5. Complaining ensues
6. "Stop complaining guys, again, just be patient. This stuff is hard. Let's see you do better!"
If you don't want people to continue to complain, then be honest about what you've worked on/what you are working on/whether or not you know how to actually perform the fix or are simply too lazy to do the work. And if you fall into the latter categories, you either need more staff or more talent.Comment

Re: Avmisses on replays
Pretty much both of these. Being that FFR is no longer a business, I'd like to see a more open approach to how features are written/improved. (Without releasing the code completely)Again, this has always been my main gripe with FFR:

Re: Avmisses on replays
I'm slightly surprised Halogen said what he said. The last thing you should do is to tune out your patrons when the same complaint/issue is being brought up. It's lip service acknowledgment that often leads us nowhere.
It also gets me thinking of some of the other issues that should be addressed (and some of these are already addressed in other custom engines) such as the control over song beginning and ending (beginning: not requiring 2 seconds of silence; end: not requiring the song to end only when the last arrow has been hit), manual syncing (a la KBO), etc.Comment
