    Advice for a Wii-n00b.

Last night, my dad came home with a brand new Wii (he said he got it for free from one of his clients for doing some "favors" for them...I didn't ask any further =P). All my life I've played PS2 and the popular games for that system and I'm not really familiar with the top Nintendo games. Obviously, the first game I want to get is Brawl and I'm sure many of you will agree with me. However, I want to know your favorite games that you think I should get. I'm into most genres and could see myself getting just about anything, but I'd prefer games in which the screen sensor isn't involved because I don't trust it very much. Also, do any of you know about Madden for the Wii? Is it worth buying?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on the types of games you play. Right now I'm enjoying Fire Emblem Path of Radiance (I think) and Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility. Other then that, I haven't delved a whole lot into the wii area of games either. Animal Crossing is decent if thats your cup of tea.

Alright, hmm...I guess if I had to pick, my favorite genres are action, shooters, and sports (hence my question regarding madden).

Animal Crossing isn't my cup of tea, actually. Tried to play the first one and I wasn't really into it.

The sensor works fine. It makes games more fun and it's pretty efficient, besides gay games like cooking mama.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is an awesome shooter...you can try that one. However, it uses the sensor screen.

The screen sensor is reliable, trust me.

              Supers Smash Bros. Brawl

              Super Mario Galaxy

Resident Evil (I forgot the number lol)

              Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

              Mario Kart Wii

              Okami

These are all five star games, and there may be a few I'm forgetting.

Madden on the wii? Lol I don't think they have that, and if so do not play it on wii. Madden should be for more manly systems like 360 and ps2. Hm. Well nintendo games for the Wii..

Brawl of course should be number 1.
And perhaps you might like to try Zelda games.. Or even buy gamecube games because wii can also play Gamecube games. So lol if you have lil bros or anything Mario arty can be an option xD

Yes, they do have it for the Wii, and it sucks. They take away all the good features, pretty much the same thing that they did with Rock Band 2 for the Wii.

However, Wii Fit is a good game, even if it is fitness-related, and Mario Kart Wii is probably the second best game out there, other than Brawl.

You might try Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, since it is such a good game.

However, there really are no good third-party games...

The only semi-decent third-party game I can think of is Carnival Games (not the mini-golf version).

Although I haven't played it, Resident Evil IV is the one Raveren is talking about.

What they said. Personally, I'd say get the Gamecube version of Zelda as opposed to the Wii one, since it'll play both, but it's your call. Also going to recommend Fire Emblem if you like strategy at all. I think everyone liked No More Heroes as well (haven't played it yet), then there's the two Tales of Symphonia games.

If you like puzzle games, you can try Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure. I bought this game and enjoyed it very much.

Metroid Prime 3 is a given for any Wii owner.
                            Brawl is awesome.
Mario Kart Wii is quite fun.
As for action/RPG's, Zelda was already mentioned, but also Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is good too
I am either Cold Kitten or T-Force.
You will never be able to tell which being I am.
In fact, which one am I now?
