My new file isn't replacing the old file

Ok this is going to be hard to explain, but Ill try my best and I hope somebody would understand the frustration that Im going through as well as know a solution for this. Here I go:

Recently this crap has been happening to me and Im not sure why. I have finished my file Slashfic and even more recently infiltration and both are ready to be submit. However, when I zipped the file into a zipfile, for some reason, when I unzipped it to maker sure it was the right file, it turns out that the file I was working on didn't register, but instead copied the file before hand. I have copied my dwi and notepad to my new files because Im not sure how to create blank ones. I have changed everything and edited it even the name and everything, but for some reason, although everything has changed like the title and the step difficulties, the arrows from the previeous song that I copied to the new file is still the same. So basically, for some odd reason, my last file is still there and it isn't picking up my new file which is suppose to be there.

EDIT: btw... the song did change. Just the arrows didn't change.
EDIT2: Hopefully I can fix this fiasco before the batch closes which is today.

So the question is, how do I fix this problem? How do I get my recent works zipped so that my last file doesn't register, but my new file registers? I know this is confusing to understand and to be honest, it was confusing to write, but I can't seem to find a solution. You're help is apprieciated.

so, lemme see if I have this right:
    1. you work on a file from start to finish in one session, and save it
    2. stepmania doesn't actually save anything you did on the file to disk, such that if you quit out of the session and tried to open it again you'd get whatever you put in their in the first place

let me off the following suggestion:
have you tried making a file in dream studio instead?

The saving isn't a problem. The file is there. Just when you zip it and unzip it, it turns into another file for some odd reason. (I probably should of said this.)

Never heard of dream studios. I just used the stepmania edit.

if you're using winzip use winrar
if you're using winrar use winzip, or use a .zip instead of a .rar or vice versa
try coping the folder somewhere else then .ziping or .raring it with a brand new name you've never used before, then extracting it to a new folder
          etc

are you on the administration account for your computer? xp or vista or other? have you tried transporting the filez to a different computer and screwing around there?

Turn off quickload [I think it's in other options?] and restart stepmania.
Or just use to stepmania reload thing in the options.
Quick load is loading from cache, therefore it isn't reading the new changes to the file.
So if you sent the file to someone else, the file would be the newer steps that you want to send them, being they never had the older version in their cache.

                  Hope this helps.

What Tera said should work. If, for some reason, it doesn't, then what you can simply do is put an underscore at the end of the folder name. This is related to what Tera said. It reads it as an old file in the cache. So, changing the folder name would work just as well as what Tera said. Try this if what he said doesn't work.

Re: My new file isn't replacing the old file

OK... I just woke up and saw the new posts. I will try all these solutions that have been brought upon me in the following tally:

New computer: Still have to try this but I have my doubts. If i zip the new file and it turns out to my old file, Im betting that it would turn out to be the old file. Will try this because Im sure with a new stepmania and different configurations, it might actually work.
Different Folder: I named it tester and still got the old file.
Quick Start OFf: I turned off Quick load (Is that what you are talking about?)
                      Underscore: I just tried this

Could I try deleteing my cach or would that just end up loading the old file again?

If none of these works..... then someone come to my Arizona house with a sledge hammer and beat the **** out of my comp

Can I send the file to someone so someone can take a look at it. Im sure I followed all of you're instructions, but Im sure hands on experience by someone that knows what they are doing would be more beneficial.

BEcause I only really step for FFR now, I haven't created a lot of files so I can't really proove that theory. But it seems to me that right now, you can say anything I zip somehow, turns into drop. I also tried restepping the file in a whole nother dwi, one that works (from a pack) and for some reason haveing this problem.

I will try the zipping whole creations later... about to raid In WOW..

I think Ill hit you up on AIM sometime. If I can solve this issue, that means Im done with stepping because every file I step turns into drop. And I kinda want to keep going.

Have you tried completely uninstalling the program(s) you're using to unzip the files? Try uninstalling them, removing EVERY trace of them (any folders in Program Files with settings that may be left behind), and then reinstall them (and preferably get the latest version).
