If you're using Vista, it doesn't let your Stepmania save any files if it's in Program Files. Try moving the whole Stepmania folder to somewhere like My Documents and it start it up from there. You should then be able to zip/unzip files correctly. Or you could just try turning off User Account Control like me.

This happens to me when i try to put Japanese characters on my files,
Did you save the file in ANSI codification? try that.
