This was a depressing and somewhat incomprehensible game. Revival of primitive nature and the destruction of technology is the main theme. I liked the story a lot, though there was no variation in the fighting, or any sidequests.

No spoilers.

Like Earthbound (Mother 2), the last boss is completely independent of all the fighting you've done up to that point. In Earthbound, you prayed so that the player defeated the last boss, which I thought was sort of retarded, but unique.

Pretty damn excited. Earthbound was my childhood game and finally being able to play the third in the series gives me goosebumps.

I have never played any of these games and I really don't know what they are about. Someone tell me if I should try this for the next week or so until Fable comes out.

It really depends on your taste in games. The series (atleast the first 2 of the three) for the most part is light-hearted, with pretty quirky dialogue. If you like unusual RPGs, then by all means try it. But, it might not be your type of game.

If you were going to try any of the 3 games, I'd start off with Earthbound. It's pretty easy, and you don't have to really know anything from the first game to understand it.

I find it more Unique than retarded. That pretty much gives you the ability to blow through the game without having to worry about how high of a level you are (as long as you know what you're doing).

Although it is pretty retarded since I was fighting for nearly an hour before I buckled down and looked at a walk-through, and saw that I needed paula for prayer. =_=

I loved Earthbound, only knew 1 person who ever had it and I wish I got it off of him years ago but oh well. Going to get my own copy of all the games soon

EDIT: I have a problem with my Emultator running as supersonic speed, wtf? And the % at the top fluctuates insanely fast..

Fallen, make sure Frame Skip is set to Auto. Anything else and it freaks out.

RPGs are fun for their sidequests. You can just as well, as read a book or watch an anime on Earthbound if the game itself is so straightforward with no options. There's no choice of weaponry (just gets better in one way as the game progresses), there are no optional stories, there are no hidden side-secrets etc.

I hated it when you pray with Paula, and it didn't work after all the inhabitants of the world gave damage. Then I spent another 30-50 rounds fighting Gigyas on my own, then I prayed again, which brought "my" power etc.

I'm about 8 hours in and damn, the story is immersive. Also, the music is sublime. And the dialogue:

Gigyas is the background lol. No different from any of those abstract backgrounds from any battle scene.
