    The folder 'Songs/My Creation' contains music files.

    I looked around and I couldn't find the technical support section, but it has something to do about stepmania. So since this section is about stepmania... Ill put it here.

    This happened just today. I tried to start stepmania but then I get:

    The folder 'Songs/My Creation' contains music files.

    This means that you have a music outside of a song folder.
    All song folders must reside in a group folder. For example, 'Songs/DDR 4th Mix/B4U'.

    Ive seen this error so many times and I usually am able to fix it, however this time I dont think I can fix it and Im asking for help. Basically, I looked at the folder and I didn't see any isolated mp3 file. But everytime I reloaded, I still get the same message. I cut out all the files, put on desktop and I copy and pasted first song into the folder and I actually got the message to, but nothing is wrong with the file. So basically, there is some imaginary music file in there that I can find.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Edti: Oh ya forgot to mention. I tried taking the entire folder out and loaded stepmania. However the same error came back, except I dont understand because I had taken out the My creations from the entire game... So ya dont know.

      Go to that folder and make a new folder named the same thing and put everything in that folder. That's what I do.

          You can't have any music files in Songs/My Creations...


          You need to have it go like this:
          Code:
          Songs/My Creations/SongName/Songname.mp3 (and other files in the folder)
          Otherwise, stepmania gets mad at you.

              I just tried this using a different name. Unfortunatly, it still says I have a such folder "My Creation". I deleted that folder and there still isn't any folder named that, but its still saying I have that folder there.

              I got class now... Ill analyze firecats post in a sec... plz keep posting in this thread if you have an idea on how to fix it.

                  How about you view hidden files to see if its hiding from you.

                      How you do this? Im new to vista

                      Edit: There is no such thing as My creation folder now. I made another file with a different name. Unfortunaly, the comp still thinks there is a My creation Folder.

                          I wouldnt know how to on vista but try redownloading stepmania, just move all you songs and other stuff somewhere else so it wont get deleted.

                              I have actually just done this...I deleted all SM stuff and moved all the packs to my desktop. I tried to get back on SM and Im still having the same issue. I deleted the my creations folder and I have tedieously searched through all the folders of all the folders in SM and in my packs and I dont see a My creations folder. I dont understand whats going on.

                              Im still having an issue with this problem. Any other advice or solutions?

                              Edit: HAHA this BS is happening when there is nothing in the songs folder

                                  Oh im sorry but I just dont know how to help you. How about you try running the my creations file from the run button on the start menu and delete it. Ill try and do it myself to see if I can get it to the file.

                                  Edit try doing this
                                  "C:\Program Files\StepMania\Songs\My Creations"
                                  In the run and if its there delete it.

                                      Says no matches. Ive already deleted it a long time ago, but its still believeing there is a My Creations Folder...

                                      Im still playing around with this... thx for helping man... Im going to try and do a system restore. This might work, but Im doubting it LOL.

                                              Did you ever try making a new "My Creations" folder and putting a random simfile in there?

                                              It might kick it into working possibly.

                                                  Yes, I had made a file named that before. I had deleted it and all its contents had been moved to Operationstrawbarry's sims. That file is nowhere in the SM file nor in my computer after running a run process.

                                                  I have just done a system restore as well (LOL Im basically trying everything no matter its percent of success). Still having this same problem. For some reason, SM is finding the My creations folder when it actually isn't there. I can't find the file anywhere in my comp and its getting frustrating. Heres a repeat on the error:
