Perseids Meteor Shower at its peak August 12, 2AM EST

I know most of you who sees this aren't really going to care, but just to give a little reminder that if you stay up long enough tonight (and for PST folks, to go outside before you sleep), try to find a nice dark place to look up and see meteors come out once or twice per minute. I saw a couple just yesterday coming home from work.

So yeah, wherever you are in North America, look up if you care for a little natural light show.

Unfortunately, my town is too light polluted nowadays to even see stars at the darkest of the night.

Two or three years ago and I would have been able to see this but now, I have to drive at least 2-3 hours before I can get to a spot where there isn't any light pollution. Meteor showers are extremely fun to watch.

Even if you miss this Meteor Shower, if you stay up on any other night, you'll be able to see a couple of meteors every hour if you're paying attention.

I myself actually never thought that this happens annually, even around these time of days. There is one spot of my town 2 blocks away from me that is pitch black thanks to a couple of broken street lights and facing an area where there is a forest, away from light pollution. I thought it would be nice to see it; I'm gonna buy me a flashlight before tonight happens.

EDIT: Tsugomaru is right. Even though the peak is tonight, it'll dwindle off for the next couple of days, but it'll be harder to spot one since the peak would have passed already.

Sounds cool, but I doubt that there are dark enough spots in Chicago to see this. If I'm still up, and I remember about this, I'll check and see though.
