Who here uses this program? I've been tinkering with it all day and it's freaking incredible.

Re: Reason 4
I can think of two people who frequent here and use Reason: KgZ and Nubbin. I think djshox might too but I'm not sure. :|
I don't use Reason, but I've been meaning to try it out for a while.Last edited by DarkbearX; 07-14-2008, 05:26 PM.Comment

Re: Reason 4
A VST, Virtual Studio Technology, is an universal plug-in software that can be added to almost all sound editing softwares, and that can consist of just about anything you can find in a studio, ranging from an amp to a synth, console, etc etc.
In other words you can broaden your studio's capabilities with those, but since Reason doesn't accept them, you are somewhat limited. Even though you have most of these components incorporated into the software, you can't add different ones.Truth lies in loneliness, When hope is long gone by -Blind Guardian, The Soulforged

Re: Reason 4
yea... cause I havent been pimping out reason ever since I Got here :S
Anyways, even with the fact that reason doesnt support vst's you pretty much have infinite possibility with the synths it has. I'm quite sure you could pretty much make anything with them.
Ive been using it for like 6+ years so yea. ITs awesome.Comment

Re: Reason 4
BUT WAIT
what's that you say ?!?!?! Reason has no vst support by itself. ... and no direct line in recording.. well fiddle sticks. What am I going to do ?! I've got all these amazing synths, and effects, and a wonderful sequencer, But what if i want to use all the amazing power of reason WITH (VST) support ?!
FRET NOT! Simply find yourself a copy of ableton live and reason will seamlessly rewire into ableton, letting you use all of reasons features AND sequencer, through ableton live.
What happens is, Reason rewires into it's own audio track in ableton Which can then have VST effects put onto it or VSTi's ran through the midi channel(if you so choose). If you want to get SUPER technical you can even reroute all your different instruments in reason to their own individual audio track in ableton. FOR INSTANCE; you can have your main progression sittingon audio track two, your melody on track 3 your drums on track for etc etc. And each of those tracks can be controlled individually.(i actually know a guy that rewires every one of his drum hits from reason into it's own seperate track in ableton)
Because in all honesty, if you take the basics of each program .. FL and Reason. In my personal opinion ( getting ready for flame) Out of the box, reason is much more powerful than FL. I mean, you've got the THOR : the god of all synths.
BUT what makes FL pull ahead is the fact that you don't have to STICK with those default synths and effects, and can use any 3rd party vsts you want AND you can record directly in.
But just like KGZ said, You rewire into a good daw.. and reason becomes the most powerful VST on the market, period. I challenge you to find a single VST that does everything that reason can do, as good as reason does it, at the same price that reason costs.Comment
