I've been using left scroll for ages but apparently I'm going to need to start getting my MP level up thanks to the new tokens. Also, what's a good speedmod to practice on? I hear a lot of people are fond of using them.

Wow, left scroll is hard.
Use speed 1.75 or 2. upscroll is what most mp matches are.
Just practice upscroll, a lot.

Each to their own. Could take one person 5 minutes to get used to a change yet another person could never get used to it.
Just experiment with the speeds and see which helps you most.Comment

Seconded. I've been trying to get used to upscroll for months here in FFR, and even longer in SM, and to this day I can barely survive some easier levels (yes, I literally DIE). Hell, just read my custom title. Had that on there for at least a month. I'm fairly sure I will never get used to playing upscroll.
If you were going to go with another scroll direction, I'd suggest down because, well... it's made of win 'n' all
Besides, it's what the other music game simulators scroll: Beatmania, Guitar Hero, etc.

Boomerang in SM helped me learn upscroll for Resonance.
