Need a teeny bit of help

Last round of the tourny's song had this, and so does the new one.

I cannot do the jump-single thingy (I don't know the exact term for it) that Haruka and this new DJ song does! I just don't get it.

Did anyone else have this problem when they were learning? On some songs I can do more complicated patterns (or at least I think of them as) but I just can't do this.

Replay is gone now, *hits head*. But its the part of the new beginner song in the tourny where the beat starts to pick up.

Pause the replay on the pattern that you can't seem to do, practice it over and over, and then when you think you have it down, play the song again. That's what I do.

Ooops, I forgot to save the replay.

Hmm, I'll go try that Taco, thanks.

Ya a jump stream but.. I don't think it's really considered that cause of how much easier it is? Maybe it is.. I dunno.

oh like a gallop just with a jump in there, yeah just use the replay to your advantage and practice it a lot, then STOP, then come back and you'll do good

Can you tell us what playing style you play?

That would help a lot for giving advice.

I use spread now, but only been using it for a couple of days. I'm better then I was with index with spread so ya, spreads my playing style.

Stopping is a good idea! *Gets some food*

I can't help you with playing spread, but taking long breaks between playing a certain song helps a lot.

I know that if I whore a song more than three times, then I quickly start to form mind blocks and can't progress at all.

On the contrary, I don't like to stop. It destroys tension and flow.

Instead, I like to due a variety of songs at the same time. That way, you don't develop mental blocks.

Re: Need a teeny bit of help

haruka is almost entirely "jump-gallops". the 2 note 16ths are gallops, and since they involve jumps... they're jump-gallops.

i would wager that would be a difficult pattern for the aspiring indexer... but is quite easy for someone playing spread. so, really, your best bet is to keep practicing spread, and you'll soon find that pattern to be simple.

just remember to quickly trot between the arrows, kind of roll your fingers. it's called a gallop for a reason.

Re: Need a teeny bit of help

Are you having trouble hitting them in general, or are can you hit them consistently but are having trouble doing them accurately? Very different problems, and I'll give different advice based on which one it is.

For just being able to hit them, a quick fix of the tourney is giving you too much time pressure is to hit them as hands. You get horrible accuracy and it only really works at higher tempos, but hey, it can get you the FC, and remember that boos don't affect your score nearly as much as a high combo does

For hitting them with good PA, do what Tass says. If the yellow and one of the red arrows are on the same hand, roll that hand from the early arrow to the second one. If the yellow arrow is on a different hand from the jump, I find lifting my hand up a higher before the jump helps me NOT hit them early, like a triple. Of course, all this comes naturally after a long time.

In summary, either mash them or practice more.
