    Stepmania Joke Arrows?

    I was just playing a file I just downloaded on SM, and it had arrows in which I hit, but it missed and did not take off my current combo or anything. Is this like a joke arrow or something?

      Negative BPM effect. It's kind of a joke. When a negative BPM is put in, Stepmania skips ahead until there's a positive BPM or something like that.

          Yeah, Family Farce has some negative ones. You have to memorize the arrows if you get a negative BPM change.

              i have 2 ITG songs that are like that, it still says i hit them and still keep keep combo but they just go right on by the arrows

                  It can sometimes happen without negative bpm. I've seen these "ghost arrows" in some stepcharts, including mine. I don't know what caused it though.

                          What about the weird illusional mines in Mellann from Red Fraction? The ones that appear suddenly, don't activate when hit, and conceal arrows?

                                      i've only passed it once because SM usually breaks during those arrows.

                                              Although made in 4.0 and played in 3.9, my stepchart didn't have any rolls/lifts/negative bpm and it still happened.
