    Suggestions?

I really haven't found a good book to read lately.

Anyone have any suggestions of some good books?

I like intelligent novels. Ones that will make you think.

I really don't care what it's about as long as you say its a good book.

    Thanks

Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. It's short, but it's one of my favorites.

If you have not yet read House of Leaves, by Mark Z. Danielewski, read it now. Right now. At this very instant.

Mead will back me up on this.

Ender's Game was a great book, but the others... not so much.

            Re: Suggestions?

The best books ever written are bolded.

I'm a fan of Russian lit myself.
Tolstoy - War & Peace, Anna Karenina, The Kreutzer Sonata
Dostoevsky - The Brothers Karamazov, Crime & Punishment
            Nabokov - Lolita

Or if you're in the mood for something less dense...
            Baldwin - Giovanni's Room
Hurston - Their Eyes Were Watching God
            Morrison - Jazz
Camus - The Stranger (I lied, this is actually quite dense, at least it's not a billion pages like the Russian stuff)
London - The Call of the Wild

Or if you're in the mood for just plain eff'd up stuff, you can't go wrong with Scandinavian/Swedish plays!
To learn more about the philosophy behind a lot of these works, read anything by Swedenborg.
            Isben - Peer Gynt, A Doll's House
Strindberg - Dance of Death, A Dream Play
            Hamsun - Pan

...In college I basically took literature classes instead of math and science xD

Ya, the sequels don't really carry any similarities with Ender's Game. I still find them interesting though, I just don't really like/understand how/why Card used all the Portuguese in the rest of the series.

Yea. It's written entirely in a post-slavery African-American vernacular. It's kind of like A Clockwork Orange how it creates an entire world through the language the author uses.

                      Re: Suggestions?

                      Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

Four classics everybody should read. For you, in that order.

House of Leaves seems good. I have personally never read it, so I couldn't tell you personally.

                        Re: Suggestions?

I absolutely despised Their Eyes Were Watching God actually...it was kinda dull, and I just never really got into it.

Couple of books off my favorites...uh.

I'll agree with the Ender's Game, and Ender's Shadow wasn't half bad either. I can't really think of anything other than that right now.

                              A basic summary?

It's a book about a guy who finds a dead guy who wrote a book analysing a movie that probably does not exist.
