Overall rank is judged based on the user's grand total. The more points you have, the higher (well...lower), your overall rank will be.

Average rank is judged based on the rank of each song I believe...I'm not sure how to explain it, but I'm working on getting this one down myself

okay so to make my overall rank get better I have to increase my grand total? So just play a lot of songs and get points? what about failing? and mp?

The rank you're talking about is overall rank. All you have to do is play a song and get a positive amount of points. Then, if your grandtotal of points exceeds someone else's, you go up in rank.

Basically, the more you play, the more your overall rank will improve. MP or solo, you'll earn points regardless and improve your overall rank.

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/levelrank.php <--- This on the other hand determines your average level rank. This is where the precision factors come in that you mentioned. (AAAs, FCs) This is a list that takes into account every public song, then averages all your ranks into one final rank. At the bottom of the list, this is dispalyed for you, and each time you improve on one song, it goes down.

Edit : Failing will not bump your rank down unless you end with a negative amount of points that happens to bring your grand total down lower than the person ranked below you.

So really, it's up to you what you really want to improve, average or overall rank. (Or both)

play a lot of songs and boo out when you lose your combo.

the higher the combo, the higher the score. 1000 pts for each arrow in your combo and 550 pts for each perfect arrow. So imagine you play a song with 500 arrows and AAA it.

That's 775,000 pts. If you play a song with 3648 arrows (Final Fantasy Last Battle Festival) and FC (ya right... lol) thats a guaranteed 3,648,000 pts. I FCed it with like 321 goods and got 5.4m points. At your rank, 1 million points will jack your rank up significantly. At my rank, 5 million points kept my rank the same lol.

rank means nothing besides the fact its cool to say yeah im rank 1 and have no life buty games played and points total are the only things that change it dont quit songs while in the middle of them

AOD is right. Overall rank is dumb. The real fame is in average rank. If you have an average rank under 1,000 you're a pro. If you have an average rank like AOD ur like omaigawd 1337... lol

Average Rank is Based on Skill while Overall rank is how much you play. Right now im trying to go through some of the songs i haven't played to try and get my average rank up. You can look at that by going to levelrank in your profile to see what you have on each song.

If it were truly based on skill, the mere fact that you haven't played a song yet shoudln't impact it.

skill includes attentiveness and playing all the songs.

alright, let me correct it then. Average Rank is an average of the ranks you have attained on all of the songs. To have a good average rank it takes skill. It was a minor lapse in judgement on my part. If it was really that necessary you could of said it instead of trying for sarcasm.

I was just helping him out. I myself haven't been around FFR that long but was just trying to help him to my knowledge
