    Help me with my PC. (Vista Problems Galore)

    I got a new PC today and it runs on Vista. I have a few things that need straightening out...

    1) Now whenever I play SM or FFR I get short, repetitive slowdowns and speedups. How do I fix this?

    2) I downloaded WinRAR but when I download .rar files I cannot see them. It's as if they're hidden or something. Again how do I fix this?

    I understand this is CC and not a computer help section but any help would be great.

      1: Install the latest flash player.
      2: Make sure when you installed winRAR, .rar files are associated with it.

      For anything else I'm going to need your computer specs.

              I did both as soon as I got my internet connected.

              I'm totally serious when I say that, that was what I planned to do as soon as I bought a new computer. But for one reason or another I decided not to.

                                  2GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT, trust me, its not his comp, its vista, just downgrade to XP, i need to do that soon as well, i dont have a problem with winrar though, i dont know how to help you there =/

                                      Yeah... thats kinda bad, i would get a better everything.
                                      My laptop is a little bit better but yeah...
                                      Windows Vista has a HELL of a lot of problems so just fix that first.
                                      Like on my laptop I have it, yet im to poor to buy window XP because I just got this laptop and im in debt =\
                                      But as everybody else says, get XP its highly recommended unless you want your computer to run like ****.
                                      FINAL THING, keep Vista though, because you never know.
                                      One day they might fix all the glitches and make it a godly software. (System Updates)
                                      Untill that day comes use XP ^^
                                      And when I said keep Vista i ment on a spare CD stored away somewhere.

                                      And well I haven't even gotten my laptop yet but soon as I do I will let you know if the same troubles are happening with me.

                                      And [tera] is that graphics card any good?
                                      I got it for my laptop and was just curious, cuz I wanna know if I can get some good things running on it =]

                                                  So I can't fix my problem? Besides downgrading.

                                                  Because 3/4 or the time I spend on my PC is playing FFR and SM...

                                                      The SM problem can most likely be fixed by getting a graphics card.

                                                      Go to Control Panel\System and Maintenance\System, and get Vista to give you your Windows Experience Index. That way it'll optimize graphical settings (such as Aero) based on your hardware, that could allow SM to run smoother. Also try lowering SM's graphical settings, and make sure you have the latest DirectX.

                                                      About the RAR files, what exactly do you mean? You navigate to where you downloaded them and they are not there at all?

                                                          Yea seems like a graphical issue for SM. Downloaded DX10 and it smothed out a lot.

                                                          That's exactly what happens.

                                                          Also can anyone help with the FFR problem?

                                                          I'm running Flash 9.0.47.
