Question about remixing

It's legal as long as you don't sell it for money.

Also, Coldplay sucks.

Perhaps you should e-mail them and ask if it's ok to remix and use on FFR. Be sure to include some things, like how no profit will be made and how it won't cost them anything.

Thnx for the replies guys, really needed that. I be sure to rush with that one, but not too much. Yeah, I don't like Coldplay much, but they have a few songs that just rock my face off. This is the main one, and it sticks in my head after I hear it once, and it stays there for a good while. So I decided to think about remixing it. Added it to my list, and an hour later, began to mix...so far so good! It may end up just being an underground mix, but I hope it will be allowed on FFR. ltr guys, gotta go get ready to work. ^_^

What style are you gonna do? They've already got a remix for pretty much every style, but don't let it get ya down i guess.

If you are going to release it (probably not), you can release it as a white label, and give credit to no one and do it that way. That's what all the other producers do. If not, don't worry too much, but don't try to get too much attention either. I'd like to hear it though.

Well, here's what Square Bear told me about earning rights to remixing. (I'm trying to gain rights to remixing Satisfaction by Benny Benassi)
You have to email the artist/group. Ask them for permission. And I guess maybe you work out a deal and they send you the vocals for you to play with. I think you need sample credits too, like who the artist is, the label, etc.

hey guys, me again. I got no reply yet, but I'm still hoping for one. Thanks for the white label idea. That may be how I could pull this off. If I get permission that would be awsome! It's gonna be DnB. YEAH! I got FL Studio 4 recently, so it's being recreated. Nothing wrong with more than one versions to see which sounds better! Right now, I'm using tons of loop discs with acid, and mainly self-composing on fruityloops. I got Cakewalk too, along with a bunch of other stuff. I may try out the program SpookG uses. I've heard about it. But I think the mix might be done within Feb(believe it or not, maybe even within the week! Been pulling overnighters during school days...not smart). If I can get someone who can make nice stepfiles, we could get this done quick! any advice is taken well. Thnx again for the help guys!
