Attempting to get a permission.

    OBTAINED PERMISSIONS:
    The Guilty Parties
    Lemon Lime Tennis Shoes

I got an email from the manager of Chase Long Beach, asking what would be necessary to give permission to use their songs on FFR. But she said she was interested. I'm awaiting another response from her before I'm certain of whether or not they'd let us use their songs for FFR. But really, FFR needs more ska.

    NOW ATTEMPTING TO GET:
    The Pinstripes
    Chase Long Beach

Re: Attempting to get a permission.

Can we see the email you sent to them?

    - They need to know that they won't be gaining any money from letting us use the songs.

    - They need to know that the songs will not be available for public download, they'll just be able to be listened to while playing the stepcharts for them in the game.

    - They need to know that there will be a link to their website posted when the songs are released, that will likely bring more traffic to the website, and that might mean people would buy more music from them. With the songs in the game, over 5,000 people will listen to the song as they play the stepchart for it in the first month. Probably 30,000 in six months, and possible 100,000 in a year.

Not sure what else they need to know

Re: Attempting to get a permission.

This is pretty much the basic email i send out.

Hey there [insert bands name/managers name].

Im a member of Flash Flash Revolution and I was curious if I could get permission to use your band's music. (Protest The Hero)

Its a free game and we have over 1.2 million members. At any given time of the day we have at least 800 users playing. Our Game is free for all users which means we will be unable to provide you with any compensation to use your songs.

Recently, we have recieved permission from big bands such as August Burns Red, LoveHateHero, A Static Lullaby, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and all of Rise Records.

Why would you want to give us permission? When your song(s) go into our game we make a post on our homepage full of links to your website/myspace and anything else you guys want.

Also this gives hundreds of thousands of users a chance to hear your music, and if they like what they hear, they'll check you out and you just earned yourself a new fan!

Feel free to ask any questions if you have any. I will do my best to answer them for you.

Also, if you cant giver permisson, mind giving me someone I could ask about your music?

      Thanks,
      Ricky

Btw, i love ska. I got Folly's permission over in my thread, but they're more of hardcore ska.

Re: Attempting to get a permission.

Mine is basically the same... Except ive been greedy and going for bands I like... (Powerman5000, MSI, Paul Oakenfold, Slipknot, etc...) so I usually tell him how I love them, cus I do...

        But yeah...

Title: Requesting permission to use a -Band Name- song for Flash Flash Revolution (1,200,000 plus user game)

        Hello,

I would like to know if you would give us permission to use a song of -Band Name-'s for a game called Flash Flash Revolution.

Due to copyright laws, Flash Flash Revolution cannot afford royalties. Any money the game does make goes to paying for the servers and to giveaways and contests. The only thing the game can offer is some publicity. Flash Flash Revolution has 1000 people playing at any given time. Songs added usually get up to 60,000 unique plays (Each user only counting once...)

If you need more information or you would allow us to use a song in the game then you can contact me at Sir_Thomas@FlashFlashRevolution.com or here..

Even if your answer is a "no", a response would be appreciated.

        Thanks,
        Tom

              Thomas... your permissions email sucks.
"Due to copyright laws, Flash Flash Revolution cannot afford royalties" that doesn't even make sense...

not to mention... all of you guys... note that most of the time we have over 2000 people playing the game at any time, not that we always have over 800.

and i'd use something like... "our most popular song has been played by over half a million unique users". as opposed to some crap about 60,000.

I just used the amount of users on the site. That way it makes the site sound much more popular.

OK, bumping with information from MySpace.

                  "Hello Peter.

I used to play flash flash revolution and I loved it! Of course you can use any of our music on our myspace for the game. Just let us know when you have it up so we can tell everyone on our myspace to go play!

Thanks for checking us out! Peace!
                  -Anthony "

This is from The Guilty Parties. Blanket permission get.

Hey guys, I was wondering how long it usually takes get these songs up after getting permission.

I'm actually Anthony from The Guilty Parties and I would love to play GP music on FFR.

I can also send you some more songs that aren't on the myspace so you can make them into FFR songs. Just PM me or reply here.

                              Hi Anthony...

if you'd like, toss me an IM (Tasselfoot) or email (mike.pollack@flashflashrevolution.com) with some of your band's songs that you'd like for FFR.

I'll try and get someone to step at least 1 of them and get it in game.
