Ok, I think it is time to share my secret with everyone.
One of the questions that people ask me is "Hey CMG, how come you play SMo with all those MODS on?" Well its because of two reasons... 1, it makes the steps more difficult and challenging... but thats not the point of this topic.
The point of this topic is because of the second reason why I play with all those mods... believe it or not, anything you use in the INSERT column (Big/Stream, Echo, Quick, Skippy, Wide, Stomp) and OTHER column (Planted, Floored, Twister) will add more points to a song. So in other words, if you use ALL the mods from those two sections, the popints on a song will be JACKED.
For example... Twilight, from ITG2 is a lv 10 on Challenge, but it only has a few dance points...

If you were to turn on all the mods and use them for this song, not only would it feel more like a lv 11 or 12, but the points for that song would QUADRUPLE!

Now I'm not saying to go and turn on all those mods for EVERY song. Make sure you use these mods IN MODERATION. Meaning that if you were to turn on QUICK and STOMP for a song like Max 300 -Super Max Me Mix- on Challenge... well... carpel tunel and arthritus pains would be the least of your problems. This is why I have decided to be nice and make a list of all the INSERT and OTHER mods and describe what they do to a song.
INSERT COLUMN
1. Big/Stream: Adds 1/8th notes (Blue Arrows)
2. Quick: Links a 1/4th arrow with a 1/16th and 1/8th arrow (Red, Yellow, Blue)
3. Skippy: Adds a 1/16th arrow before the 1/4th... like a gallop.
4. Echo: If there is a space with no arrows after a certain direction, it will add more arrows of that same direction... in other words, if the last arrow you hit was down, then it will continue to add down arrows till the next official step appears.
5. Wide: Adds a diagnol jump (like left, down) on every first measure of a beat.
6: Stomp: All arrows (1/4ths and 1/8ths.... sometimes other arrows too) become jump arrows
OTHER COLUMN
1. Planted: Turns a single arrow into a freeze arrow
2. Floored: Turns Jump arrows into freeze arrows
3. Twister: Turns Hands into Freeze Hands... also known to link other freezes to form hands.
Remember, use these in MODERATION... this means that some songs are better played with certain mods on and/or off.
Example 1: DDR Songs with BPM's of 120-160 are better equipped with BIG/STREAM, ECHO, WIDE, PLANTED, FLOORED, and TWISTER ONLY!!!
Example 2: ITG Songs like Baby Dont You Want Me, Twilight, Go 60 Go, and My Life Is So Crazy can have everything turned on
::Trust me with Go 60 Go, it actually makes the song alot easier since its nothing but stream and rushes with all the mods turned on::
See which ones work better for you... have fun with them and create your own crazy combinations.
Now i know some of you are going "But CMG, My stepmania doesnt HAVE an Other column or the Floored MOD"... thats ok cause I'm also nice enough to give you MY Metric code to copy and paste into yours. My Option menu is set up just like how its set up on ITG, and I have the 4.0 version of Stepmania with the default theme, so it works perfectly.
First you need to delete your old [ScreenPlayerOptions] with this new one...
Now here is the code for all my MODS... delete your [ScreenOptionsMaster] code and copy and paste this one...
EDIT: Almost forgot... you'll need to re-do your entire en.ini file inside the language folder in the default theme as well... play SM in windowed mode and have languages\en.ini open when you go to the modifier window. you will be presented with a missing metric minor error. add the tag it's looking for and hit "retry" on the dialog box.
So yea, now you know my secret and the reason why I'm in the double didgets in rank, lol. I hope this makes your SMO experience alot more enjoyable.
