Re: jTWG XIII Hosting Signup
I suggest that whoever is hosting this next jTWG should keep the number of players the same and add one or two more roles. Cardflipping would make the game alot less hectic, but the game would need to have other twists to it. Maybe a kamimaze/master wolf/guardian. The gap between TWG and jTWG is immense; I believe we should make the games harder in order to shorten the gap and become more familiar with what is being done at TWG.Originally posted by j-rodd123wow -
Re: jTWG XIII Hosting Signup
cardflipping is pretty rare in TWG, since you're talking about closing the gap. To be honest, some of the hardest games are the standard ones because everyone (wolves and humans) know all the strategies for both sides, so you're always coming up with something new.Lost: packet, 42 bytes, last seen on a saturated OC3.

Re: jTWG XIII Hosting Signup
It doesn't really matter to me if it's harder or not, I just want to get ready to play what TWG is playing, and that's a massive amount of rolls.

Re: jTWG XIII Hosting Signup
I'm good with you hosting, but like I said before I would like to make it as close to TWG as we can get it, meaning roles and no cardflipping.

Re: jTWG XIII Hosting Signup
I think it's better that we play some 'basic' games before throwing in extra roles. And cardflipping makes it kind of easy, but it's fine...I suppose.
So, I'm for FoJar and his game.jwcgator: mah mee mee

The game we played before was harder than that; I'm all in for more roles.Originally posted by j-rodd123wowComment

Re: jTWG XIII Hosting Signup
I'm up with
12 players
3 wolves (Master Wolf - Appears to the seer as green)) - Cardflips Red,
Seer - Cardflips Blue
Wolfsbane - can protect anyone but themselves over the course of the night. If the person they chose to protect is the target of the wolves’ nightly attack, they will still be slain, but a random wolf will die along with them during the attack. Cardflips Blue
Cardflipping

Re: jTWG XIII Hosting Signup
A general guideline as to what's complex and what isn't...
Public activity is directed related to how many different avenues the game can take. So if you have something where what to do is clearly defined, then activity both on and off the thread will be low.
This doesn't necessarily mean the more roles the better, in fact the more roles you have, the harder it is for the wolves to win, so balance wise it'll be way off but you will have a lot of activity.
The best games, imo, are games that have huge debates as to what course of action should be taken for the rest of the game. Take the last TWG for example. Nforcer and I battled over the most minute detail in strategy for nearly 1.5 days. Even after things looked to be settled, there was still huge debate about other points. IMO, public debating makes a good game.
However, the game we're in now, there are tons of unknown info out there, but little the thread can do collectively to harness that power, and therefore even though the game is wickedly complex, most of it's complexity is only solvable by random chance and things that can't be debated. Therefore public activity is very low so the game is played with only a few people instead of the whole group.
I can see jwc's game having some serious day1 discussion, which is required for a good game. If day1 sucks then the rest of the game will go downhill, people lose interest, phantoms are earned, and wolves will win everytime. But if you get any better ideas, definitely take them into consideration

Re: jTWG XIII Hosting Signup
I vote no cardflipping. In my opinion, it makes the game too easy for the humans [unless the wolves get something to compensate, but even so, I would more enjoy no cardflipping.]Originally posted by MalReynoldsit just goes with what I said

Re: jTWG XIII Hosting Signup
I'd be willing to host anyone's idea/an idea I come up with, if I do. Granted people want me to host or others don't want to host themselves.
Something I think would be good, get a game going that is normal TWG calibur, and only allow the current jTWG members to join. That'll put the pressure on to learn things, and prevent the people who are all 'I play for years lol' to take control of the complex game.
Also, if this were to take place, I would suggest that it be called a jTWG, but only let people in under the conditions that they have either played two games, or someone with expierence says they are ready for it. If a couple people jump into the game, get confused and give up, it'll be a massacre.
Maybe something like the game I ran a while back: (and royally ****ed up)
Team evil: 4
2 Wolves - wolves
1 Master Wolf - Shows GREEN to the seer
1 Wolf Shaman - checks one person per night for RED BLUE or GREEN
Team good: 12
3 Masons - three humans that know each other's identities at the start of the game (MUCH more powerful than you think)
1 Seer - seer lol (could possibly see blue for mason, at the discretion of the participants.)
8 Humans - meatbag
EDIT: masons and seer show blue to wolf shaman, not just seer.
Again, this is all in speculation, and just what I think would be good to get people to advance to TWG level. I just don't think that jumping into a crazy game with 500 vets is a good idea, and jumping into a crazy game with your peers would be better practice.Comment
