ITT, we talk about our most recent music/movie purchases

Most recently for myself, Boondock Saints as far as movies go, as well as Over the Hedge. Boondock Saints is just a great movie, and Over the Hedge was definitely the funniest movie I saw over the summer.

As for music, I've been working on collecting everything by The White Stripes. So far, I've got Elephant, Get Behind Me Satan, and De Stijl. Awesome stuff, to me at least. Jack White's a pretty diverse artist, if I do say so myself.

I went and bought PFM's Dracula Opera Rock.

Their 70's stuff was amazing and I was a bit apprehensive that their 00's comeback would be good, but I picked this up and I'm glad I did, awesome. Shame I don't know Italian to be able to follow what's going on but it's supposed to be re-inacted on stage like that of "Jesus Christ Superstar".

          - Super Milk Chan Show Volume 1

          - Princess 69: Midnight Gymnastics

          - Battle Royale: Director's Cut

Milk is hilarious, 69 was horrible because I was expecting the 3rd volume of an awesome series to be alot better, and Battle Royale is too amazing to describe in words.

A movie called Pi, took me forever to find it, looked at every movie I could find, and finally found it at a Barnes and Noble bookstore.

I can't stand Milk Chan. Show is entirely unfunny to me. I saw the pilot they had for Adult Swim and went "What is this ****?" Only funny part was the guy randomly interjecting "BELGIAN WAFFLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Battle Royale is good ****, though. I've read the first 3 or 4 mangas.

I love it because Milk is always like, "YOU DUMBASS!" That might not be funny to you but seriously it cracks me up everytime.

Only one of the greatest musical composers for anime ever.

You should note that she is also part of the FictionJunction project.

I must say, I find it interesting how famous anime composers get as composed to people who write "regular" music for typical sitcoms here in the States.

In other news, I purchased The Ambient Collection, by The Art of Noise CD. If anyone is into electronic art music, than this is good stuff.

That is because composers for video games and anime actually create music that is worth listening to. No American TV shows have listenable music. There are a very few American movies that do, but it's usually licensed anyway. And no one buys movie soundtracks anyway.

I won't even get into the topic of the horrible abortions of soundtracks created by Americans composing for video games (God of War has one of the worst pieces of garbage ever for an OST, but it's universally praised by dumb American gamers.)

Of course, just talking about popularity, Yuki Kajiura is by far the most popular anime composer, probably because she is extremely, extremely good. Her soundtracks for the .hack series consistently outsell the actual .hack DVDs, to the tune of several hundred thousand. Some of her other works include Noir, Ergo Proxy, Mai HiME/Otome, Tsubasa Chronicle, and Xenosaga II and III.
