For obvious reasons, it's an easy assumption to make that most of the people that post here play and enjoy music games from Konami. We'll put them aside for this thread.
Arcades have been falling behind the home consoles in terms of quality (and just about everything else) for years now. Most of the time, when you think of a modern-day arcade, you think of outdated light gun shooters, pinball machines, some old racing games, and maybe a Tekken 3 machine. This is a pretty sad fact. There are some new arcade games here and there, but no arcades have them, and they're mostly just another game in a long line of a series.
What I'm looking for here is some of people's favorites. Some classics, yes, but more of the new stuff. Centipede isn't exactly what I'm getting at here. Opinions on what's good and what's not is fine, too.
The Time Crisis series is obviously some of the most fun you can find at an arcade. 2 and 3 are classics, 1 is fun to laugh at and is cheap, and Crisis Zone.. well, it's not as good, but it's pretty fun. I like the bigass light gun you're given, anyway.
The Tekken series, of course, is a big one. Tag Tournament is the most nostalgic for me, although 3 is the obvious answer there. Once in awhile, you'll find something like a Tekken 2 Ver. B machine or something, which is fun to play around with. The novelty of 4 wore off pretty quickly, as I think I was getting a bit tired of the series. We might've gotten 5 at some point here. I don't remember.
San Francisco Rush 2049 is basically the most fun I've found in a racing game outside of Burnout 3 and Revenge. If you can find one by you, play it while you have the chance. Classic.
Police 911, though it's getting harder and harder to find one, is one of the most immersing arcade games I've played. This is one of the few games you'll find that you can put in the money for 2 or 3 continues, not beat it, and still be satisfied. It's that much fun.
Police Trainer 1 and 2 are the cheapest fun games I know of. Though they're inexpensive compared to other light gun shooters, they tend to also be more fun.
An arcade with a Soul Calibur 2 machine is twice as likely to do well. If anyone's played the Conquest Mode on one of these machines, you'll know why.
That's about all I can think of right now. Post some of your favorites and some of the newest ones you've seen.
