I haven't been around nearly as long as you and some others have.......but I just want to say that just because someone's new to the forum doesn't necessarily mean they're new to the game. I'm not saying they're legit, for all I know they fake every score they post...but it's still something to keep in mind.

I would also like to point out that no one shows judge + ini in videos anymore nor does this via the correct method of searching your comp for stepmania.ini to verify that there aren't multiple copies in play.

Oh...I see what you're saying now. Yeah, I don't know..there's always the argument "who would want to fake all these scores" but it's definitely possible. What can you do though except go in every thread and call BS on everyone and have one hell of a time doing it though =P

Yeah, this topic is full of truth. I don't even click topics anymore unless it's someone from "BACK IN THE DAY" (lol) that I recognize. Most of you new people seem so full of **** it isn't even funny. The fact that most of the new people are like "lol hay I can MA everything but my speed isn't worth dongs" kind of proves that. Awesome MA doesn't come naturally, poofaces.

As for searching for stepmania.ini to show there aren't multiple ones, I figured out a way to counter that in 5 seconds. Videos do not PROVE legitimacy at all, it just reinforces it somewhat. They're so easy to bull**** it's kind of retarded.

Ok, I understand what you're all saying, but at the same time it seems like you should give us newer folk a chance.....blah blah it's easy to BS but it seems like you seasoned veterans should still give us a chance, so that in a year or two we'll be as good as you are now..immediately assuming BS no matter who posts what score seems as if you're all just elitist...but you've gotta give us a chance, I guess.

Hey tsutter, how about SSing the score in the video, showing the SS and then go backwards one step, into the data folder and showing the .ini? Can you still show the wrong .ini then? Just asking.

Tsch, I'm the total opposite. Signed up for FFR back in... whatever year my joined date says. Played it off an on for the last few years, and only in the last few months have actually started trying pretty hard at SM. Luckily, my scores still suck and I can't get through the stairs 30 seconds into FotS for the life of me. So it's OK.

EXACT same scenario with me.

Still... why would people even bother to fake it? I doubt you could BS a score that comes close to some of the people here... I mean, even with BS, your scores still won't compare to Nima, Thaor, Reach, and the other pros.

Anyways, my opinion is somewhat related to how I've gotten progressivly better. I started playing stepmania about two years ago, and never got hardcore into it until about october/novemeber of 2004, just before I started posting at a0. I used a modified judge and ini, and turned off marvelous because I actually felt good that I was doing well. Until one day, a mod by the name of Toph talked me into using Marvelous, and once I got started playing old school SMO (when you had to connect directly to the foe's computer) did I set everything to normal. This was arguably my best score I had for the longest time (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25...kickassAA.jpg), and I thought it was amazing. Nowadays, If I get a score like that I must have REALLY ****ed up. I've spent a good deal of time over the last 18 months getting to where I am now, and even still, the scores arn't anywhere near spectacular in comparison to the competition, even from two years ago.

If I see people who randomly say "o hay i ben playin 4 6 months n im better then u", I nearly positive they are full of crap. I'm not the best player, but when someone who's played for a quarter the time I have and is just as good as me or even better, I'm 77.28% sure they arn't legit.
