CalSkate Chico - Sponsored by RedOctane - April 22, 2006

    Hi,

This is a quick overview of the tournament of what I know so far. I'll update this page as I get more information. Also, I'm looking for sponsorships. If you are interested, please get a hold of me via e-mail, pm, or AIM.

    Tournament Type:
    -Lower Division
    -Upper Division (Mods)
    -Doubles
    -Free Style

    Date:
    April 22nd

    Time:
    2:00pm Registration
    2:30pm Tournament Starts (promptly!)

    Price:
    $10 for 1 entry, $15 for 2 entries, $20 for 3 entries.

    Sponsors
    Nancy - Cash
    Lynda - Food and/or Drinks
    Trupnoi - Cash
    RedOctane - Prizes:
To be sponsored by RedOctane, this information needs to be posted @ at least 5 different ddr forums discussing about the tournament and RedOctane sponsoring the tournament. Along with that, there needs to be the RedOctane logo (see bottom for your RedOctane Logo experience ). This all needs to be completed 3 weeks prior to the tournament and submitted. This will become official in the next week or two if everything goes well!

    Pre-Registration List
    Lower Division:
    ...

    Upper Division:
    Trupnoi
    Shadow_Dragonz
    Allysa
    Jion
    GCII

    Doubles:
    Shadow_Dragonz
    Jion
    GCII

    Free Style:
    Trupnoi
    Jonas

    Prizes:
Currently: Approx addition to money from entries = $200 - $250! Expect more for your buck this time around! There are plans for more sponsorships so there'll probably be gift certificates and other prizes. No more MP3 players, just good 'ol cash, or cash plastic style .
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Upper Division:
    Double elimination.
This is to be crazy, just as Jion is. Expect some easy song, or weird/never played song as the qualifier, or It's Raining Men (again) . Honestly, you'll never know since he's suck a character, so just be prepared for anything.
Qualifiers are to be set up players in ranking just as previous tournaments.

This is a MOD tournament. Expect crazy mods. All MODs are to be preselected but at random. This means the MOD settings are to be chosen specificially by Jion. Songs are preselected and chosen at random by players and then the MODs will be chosen at random, prior to playing. Please note that as players advance, the MODs will become more difficult!

    Example:
    1.5x, reverse, dark, flat, sudden
    1.5x, boost, solo, hidden
    3x, flat, random
    1x, flat, dark, right, boost
    and so on
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Free Style:
This is to be the same as the last tournament, though subject to change due to Jion's disgression. Players are pickings from a preselected sort of songs but at random. Guys will choose girly sounding songs and Gals will choose manly sounding songs. **Only for round 1.

    Round 1:
Improv - Show us what you've got. This isn't judged harshly, but will be judged on style, flow, crowd interaction/reaction, and not looking at the screen (not just playing the song).

    Round 2:
Routine - This is where you now shake that booty and give it your all! You are a dance'n master! Judging is based again on style, flow, crowd interation/reaction, and will be heavily weighted if looking at the screen if you do not have your routine down.

    Round 3:
Finals - You've made it this far, so it's time to stop the petty warm ups and blow away the crowd! Nothing is better than making the judges melt away at your awe inspiring dance moves; and how you could seduce Jion ;P .

Doubles, routine, singles, props,...whatever it is use it. If you're using a boom box, let us know to set it up before hand. Hey, this is your freestyle time so bust it out. No need to worry about previous singles only. Your goal is to woo the judges and win over the crowd. Obviously if you've made it that far, you've got what it takes!

    Tie?!:
So there's a tie! Now what?! Battle it out against your opponent. Dis him/her or go with the flow. What ever you do, just remember this one tip. Feed off of the crowd. If you make it this far, you've already made top 2, so no worries .
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Doubles/Lower Division:
Doubles and lower division are standard format. They are swiss//double elimination.
Qualifier will place players by ranking. Rounds will be 1 song until top 4 players. After obtaining the top 4 players, songs will be 2 out of 3.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If there are arrangement needed for your free style routine, plan ahead for this please so accomidation can be made, and preperations made before the start of the tournament.

Last note is that there is a small chance that when the upgrade kit comes out for SuperNova that this machine will be upgraded. This is just a warning but not a guarentee of it. If in the unlikelyness that this does occur, then I'll be sure to post the update here ASAP.

For all those of you who are wondering how the pads are doing, they've just been fixed with new sensors. Many of the sensors have been replaced, and the owner of the machine has been out there numerous times. If there are any issues, be sure to contact me so I can get the issue at hand fixed promptly. Lastly, if practicing or testing the dance pads, DO NOT STOMP EXCESSIVELY on the pads!!! This is how the sensors prior got damaged before, and I know at least one person who does this. Treat the machine with care and the owners will continue to fix the machine.

Okay, okay, this is the final note. Thanks to all those who participated in the last tournament. It was a good turn out and tons of fun! Also all the players had a great attitude and did not display themselves in a disrespectful manner. So, I will not be lecturing anyone on behavior; but just be sure to respect those around, since younger children may be present.

    Update:
    I changed the tournament date as I made a mistake. Sorry about that!!! ^^;

    Update Feb 14th:
I've asked my girl friend to see if she can get the Alpha Kappa Delta Phi sorority to be a sponsor for the tournament, and I've also asked my friend Baha to ask the Lambda Pi fraternity to sponsor the tournament.

In the coming weeks/months, I'll also be going to Wal-mart, Jamba Juice, Target, Circuit City, Best Buy, and other various places to sponsor the tournament.

    Update Feb 15th:
I have 2 sponsors right now: Nancy and Lynda from Whittney Hall. Cash and food/drinks are being donated respectively
edit: I just added Trupnoi to the sponsorship and changed the pricing for the entry fee.

    Update March 1st:
I added 2 more sponsors and created a prereg list so we can get an idea of who is participating in what. Thanks Trupnoi

    Update March 7th:
Added more information about the tournament. Added information on prizes. Tournament is coming together and getting closer. Be prepared!

You never told us where this tournament will be held. If it's in my area I'll enter for sure.
