You want to not get lynched? Be helpful to the humans. You don't need to read past TWGs for that.

Well, how can you be helpful to the humans? Think critically, analyze, etc. Read past TWGs to find out how. Honestly, following TWG is the best way for you to get better, as far as I'm concerned.

Also... best advice? Read the threads AND THEN read the post-games. Everyone, human and wolf, usually shares what they were thinking and/or trying to accomplish based on what they did in the game.

That is the best strategy... and I'm one to know.

real helpful...

anyways, post-games are qwuite helpful, basically as a human think up logical reasons for the way people act and then try to use that logic to come up with a hypothetical situation where one person would have to be a wolf. Then choose the situation that's most probable and go with it. Also try and hsake things up and get informatino out of people to find stuff on them. Tell lies to people contradict stuff, get people nervous and confused, then analyze how they act from it.

As a wolf, do the exact same thing but since you have all the info you can easily concoct the correct hypotheticals that you need to concoct.

The main way to not get wolfed: be horribly inactive and unhelpful. Or, get suspected a lot by people so the wolves keep you alive to draw attention. Regardless, either you're moving towards getting lynched or moving towards getting wolfed. It's really not the end of the world to die, as long as you help your team out.

To be helpful, it's best to be as active as possible. Talk to everybody, gather their suspicions, see how they relate and how one person may be a wolf, and go with it. Don't be afraid to vote on the "eh, they seem weird" just to see how they react. Sometimes the pressure of a vote can get people scared and they act more wolfish.

And when you're a wolf, forget that you're a wolf. If somebody does something that normally you would be like "whoa wtf that was suspicious" then call them out on it, harass them on AIM, act like a normal human. People always say "well wolves don't wanna draw suspicion so that's why they wouldn't be active!" but really, the best thing for a wolf to do is be a helpful human. Everything short of picking out your own wolf buddies and getting them lynched is a great idea. Hell, even that can help you survive and whoop ass.

Overall though, experience. You can't be told how to play TWG, you have to just know.

Having practiced this for 20-odd games now I can tell you it works wonders.

However if you build up a solid enough reputation the wolves will kill you anyway around Day 4 or 5 or so for lack of anyone better.

It's great. I had a reputation, but then everyone realized that I'm really not that good of a player. Or, at least, I'm a good player, but that all of my suspicions are horribly wrong.

I look really useful to the humans, so they don't lynch me, and I look absolutely worthless to the wolves, so they leave me alone to get more humans lynched.

I find it damn-ass hilarious that they would make a thread like this and they didn't get instalynched immediately because of it. It's amazing that this kind of stuff flies in jTWG.

It doesn't matter what the topic title is now. As soon as it was made, Vash linked me to it and we both had a good laugh since I (and PROBABLY anyone else who had any idea of anything going on at all) easily ID'd him as a wolf before Vash even told me for sure. He should have been instalynched within an hour or two of posting this thread. He might as well have said "I'm not doing a good job as a wolf this game. Anyone have pointers?"

XD funny you should mention that because vash was the one that linked to it in the jTWG game. OOO mans did I laugh at how igot never had a clue at what to do and pretty much did nothing the whole time. (I mean, he thought each wolf got to wolf someone only once! XDDD)
