RE: Black is the new blue (screen of death)
Wow, Microsoft learned a trick from Sony.So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(
In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.
So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.
Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =OComment

But see, if there are enough hardware problems for it to be publically known, there's definitely something wrong. And it's definitely not good for Mircosoft on this scale.

Stop being lame, guys. I highly doubt this is as bad as people are saying it is, with TONS OF CONSOLES being faulty. It's probably being way blown up.Comment

If they were highly isolated incidents, we wouldn't hear about it, Omega. If it happened to only one or two units, they'd be sent to repair centers, and we'd never hear a thing. This was like the PSP with the dead pixels and misplaced square circuit.

RE: Re: RE: Black is the new blue (screen of death)
Guys, the reason I said the Sony thing is because it's probably just as severe as the PS2/PSP/whateverSonymakes problems. You hear about it being some HUGE BIG PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS TO EVERYBODY but really it only happens to some, and a lot of people are just fine. I have several friends with PS2s that are perfectly fine. I'm on my 3rd PS2 right now (we always put warranties on things over 100 or so dollars from Best Buy, and we've actually gained money because the price dropped but we still got credit for the original price...twice) because I just have worse luck with Sony's products. We'll get warrantees on the PS3 when we get it, too, so I really don't give a damn if it's broke as hell after a few months.
But this is gonna cost Microsoft a lot of money. At least Sony is smart enough to make products that stop working after the 90 day manufacturer's warranty runs out, whereas Microsoft is gonna have to cover for all these systems. On top of that, this is hugely bad publicity for them. Just one more thing for the fanboys to rant about that will sway the people who can be swayed. If I was unsure about which to get and heard this, it may sway me away from 360s and towards PS3. It's not the end of the world, it's just bad rep and less money made for Microsoft. So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

I have yet to hear of anyone having problems with theirs here in Las Vegas. Not a single customer has complained.Originally posted by nforcer06164If they were highly isolated incidents, we wouldn't hear about it, Omega. Well, it may not be as severe as it seems right now, but your reference to Sony, eb, isn't a good one. Right now, Sony has a class action settlement against them right now. All the info about it is here. If the Xbox 360 thing is as severe as the shotty PS2 hardware, then they could have a lawsuit on their hands as well.
Remember, the Xbox 360 launch wasn't very explosive. We'll hear a lot more when the first reserves run out. Hopefully Microsoft is smart enough to release a patch, or change their hardware if necessary, to prevent this in the future. Sony wasn't that smart.
