    Superman Returns

Look. In the "King Kong" thread, Tasselfoot did this thingy about how it's been done 3 times before.

    So has this.

Why the hell are they doing this AGAIN!? The only logical explanation for them making another Superman movie is to put a different perspective on him.

    Watch this trailer.

See? I was right. The only reason they're doing the WHOLE Superman shenanigans thing again is because they want to show off the Jesus metaphor.

      RE: Superman Returns

that was a terrible trailer. The movie looks stupid too. I'd expect another batman movie to come out with like all this hi-tech crap within the next few years.

        RE: Superman Returns

Omega... King Kong = SAME plot 4 different times....

Superman 1-4 = four DIFFERENT plots... Lois & Clark, also different plots... Smallville, again, different plots.

I'll check out the preview in case i'm wrong and Superman Returns is a re-make of the original Superman... but, I wasn't under that impression.

EDIT: ok, I saw the trailer... and yea, its taking the angle of Superman 1 all over again... but, it doesn't give any premise to the plot of the movie. So, if it is a remake, it will follow a similar plot of Superman 1. If its just a new concept and new angle with new actors on Superman with the same starting point as Superman 1... then it'll have a different and new plot.

In either case, I completely disagree with it. Superman HAD an opening with Superman 1. There is no need to redo the information given to us in Superman 1. What made Batman Begins great was that Batman 1 skipped over all that information, while Superman 1 did not.

I'll see the movie, but I can't say it'll be even decent.

My whole take on King Kong is that it is the exact same plot, with King Kong and Jane, with the Empire State Building... nothing is different except the director, the actors, and the technology. And the bankroll. Its my same beef with The Producers... and it WILL be my same beef with this new Superman if all it is is a remake.

Movies need a mimimum of 40 years before they can be remade, IMO. Bad News Bears and Longest Yard... too soon. Ocean's Eleven is the PERFECT example of an excellently remade movie. Original is fantastic with an amazing cast, remake is just as quality with a whole new generation of top actors. On a different level, even Mr. Deeds was decent as a remake... considering the original was from 1936.

And then some movies are just too timeless and classic to ever be remade. Gone With the Wind, Singin' in the Rain, Casablanca... or even better, Charlie Chaplin movies. Then again, who would want a silent movie, and who could ever duplicate Chaplin's ability to convey emotion and speech without actually talking.
        RIP

But...Superman I has that beginning stuff IN it. You see him grow up and learn to use his powers. To reiterate:

Of course it's not gonna be great. I'm just saying that their excuse for redoing Superman 1 is to show off the Jesus metaphor. It's blatantly obvious if you watch the trailer.

                  Goddamn it. No one cares.

As for Superman: Superman sucks and the people who like superman suck. His only weakness is Kryptonite. What the sh*t is that? Superman is the worst Superhero ever.

Except Birdman beats out Superman in the worst superhero category by like...a ton.

I could have seen that one from a mile away. There was no way he would just stay on Earth. I wonder what his space suit will look like...
