    Woo. GameTap looks pretty cool.

    So I saw this really funny commercial on TV for some thingy called GameTap. So I did some research. I highly suggest you read this.

    With all the consoles creating worse and worse platform wars [online gaming and powerful visuals] between fanboys who sneer at the PC's "obvious obsoleteness," this GameTap program is an answer to the question of how PCs can keep up their powerful reign. Not THE answer, but not a bad one.

    Now, I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to obtain many of the games on their current list illegally. However, I can definitely imagine the list growing bigger and bigger and including more and more games from more and more platforms. But, then again, I imagine alot of things. One of them is GameTap having Viewtiful Joe on the PC so I can record my viewtiful fights to the HD (nevermind the fact that I can already do this). Or Ninja Gaiden. OR, ZOMG, SEGA SATURN GAMES. You know you would totally be sold too, if they had Saturn Games. And I wouldn't put it past them to somehow get a hold of Guardian Heroes.

    But of course they'll need more pull factors than just games. And that's where their Media comes in. I'm not exactly sure on the details, but I think basically they have exclusive shows and sketches about video games, and they possess some kind of power to take video game-related excerpts from other shows. Like these, for example:

    I have high hopes for this GameTap thingymabobber.

    RE: Woo. GameTap looks pretty cool.

    GameTap is a retarded piece of shit. Anybody that uses it is a fucking jackass. If you want to play these games, fucking buy them. The Saturn and Dreamcast are too legendary to be rented out to shithead of the week #4 because he stole his mom's credit card and paid some fucking corporate bastard at TBS to play games he has no chance of understanding.

    And that's not even getting into how shitty most of the games on there are. They don't even have any good Saturn or Dreamcast titles on there yet. I hope they never do. I hope they crash and burn, oh so hard.

    The last thing we need is an entire armada of fucking CounterStrike rejects playing console games.

    PS: I probably own more than half of the stupid fucking arsenal of games they have, so don't bitch to me about how it "lets you try out new stuff." All the stuff people haven't played on there isn't played because it sucks shit.

          Yet on the other hand, there's people like me that, while capable of "understanding" the games, have difficulty finding them, much less buying them.

          P.S. Among the many things I imagine, one of them is the thought "I bet most of the people who would buy GameTap would actually be classic gaming enthusiasts with appreciation for the games, rather than some Counterstrike jackass bored enough to check out some game called 'Golden Axe.'"

              Oh okay. Let me go check out eBay.

              Saturn = $32
              Radiant Silvergun = $187.49
              NiGHTS = $24.99
              Burning Rangers =$16.64 + Shipping
              Guardian Heroes = $13.22 + Shipping
              Panzer Dragoon Saga =$113.50 + Shipping
              Total Price = Omeganitros needs a better job.

              Sir, your point is valid. But it doesn't help me due to the simple fact that I am 16.

                  I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds.

                      Yes, great video games should purposefully be produced on short supply, so that all the real gamers can enjoy them for what they are, and those who can't fully appreciate the masterpieces should just go to hell. God I hate museums too. Fucking rednecks thinking they can understand the Mona Lisa.
                      I'll trade you this delicious doorstop for your crummy old danish.

                        And the more copies of a great video game they have, the better. Why, if I had the means I would buy every copy of Rez and keep it to myself, so the games would be safe from being taken by idiots.

                          I've tried this at Digital Life. They had a whole bunch of booths lined up, but looking at what they had available, like Omeganitros I think this will only appeal to the retro gamer who grew up playing the classics. In fact, I think I saw more adults play the game than teens and kids. However, I was of the new crowd, so I wasn't that impressed. While I found my first try at Gunstar Heroes a lot of fun, other games such as Pitfall! really outdated in enjoyment.
                          However, it's got potential. If there are games which are scarce to find, I think Turner will have many customers signed up.

                          P.S. On a sidenote, there were people helping to promote Gametap breakdancing.

                          P.P.S.

                          Some of those games happen to be sleeper hits that were never really expected to have so much popularity. Companies only make large quantities of copies for a game if they expect that the game will sell very well, and the quality of the game tends to not be THE main point in deciding.

                            Do they have Power Stone 1+2? If they do, Gametap is God of the VG Universe.

                            EDIT: Okay, no Dreamcast games but they have Gunstar Heroes. Therefore, Moogy can suck my Monster Cock cause he's damn wrong about Gametap.
