The Exorcism of Emily Rose (With spoilers)

I guess I've finally started to enjoy going to "scary movies".

I went to see this last night, this is the movie to ever have an effect on me like this, it honestly really made me think, what if demons do exist, and what if they can posses me I'm sure you all probably hated this movie, but they gave me this review card, and I think me answering good was pretty honest, I thought the plot was great, a bit repetetive at the start, but the exorcism scene was amazing.

It took me like 5 minutes for me to figure out she was possed by 6 demons, because she kept going one two three four five SIX!!! and saying something like we are the ones that dwell within so I thought the demons were just crazy, but she was possesed by six seperate demons.

Some of the scary scenes got really repetetive, waking up at 3:00 AM and then smelling something burning, a door is slamming itself, and then there this this weird, eerie noise, and all hell breaks loose. Thaat bothered me.

Also, at the third part of Emily's story, she started seeing p[eople's faces morph, and that got repetetive and stupid. I did like how she started having one of her pressure things right in front of the altar, and I thought her boyfriend, who saw the altar incident, stayed by her side from that moment since. It was sad though, because the whole theater laughed when she was on the floor in this horrbily twisted position, I don't see what the hell is funny about that.

This post took way too long to type up. I really enjoyed the movie though, and it really did make me think like it was supposed to.

"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor

same thing happened when I saw it. I hate people. Oh and I also agree with the repetitiveness of the faces in the beginning was too...repetitive. But it really leaves thoughts in your mind on how it is a true story and if it was demons possessing her or some kind of strange occurence nobody has experienced before. And it isn't supposed to be a horror movie as much as it looked like it was supposed to be. Not that it was bad because of it, but if you are only going to it for horror, you probably shouldn't go to it. It has more to do with the mystery of spirtual meanings and religion. (I didn't get the 123456 part until my friend told me. He thought I was stupid. Cause I am.)

I don't know if I want to see it. I remember seeing the original exorcist and I was so scared. (When I was 10) Anywho, sence you weren't sure if demonds were real or whatever, all the exorcist movies are based on true stories and the books about them are based on true stories also. So yeah. I might go see it with a big group of friends or something.

Little Bump for amusing stories related to this movie. Like I said in the review, they wake up at 3:00 am and hear a door slam, I woke up at 11:35 and heard a door slam and litteraly almost jumped out of my bed (I didn't know what time it was).

Another day I woke up at 2:54, that was scary, and it was storming too.

I went to see it with Pat (Ignite) and Steph and well it sucked ass. Wasn't scary in the least bit and out of the whoooooole movie the best part is when she first saw a demon in one of her classmates and his eyes were bleeding. Steph screamed and like almost squeezed the life out of me at one point and Pat almost was like... durrrrrrr

                  This movie sucked.

The acting done by Laura Linney was incredibly horrible at some points, it made me want to scream.

It was too cliche of a scary movie. It had a cliche structure, and it made me want to punch it's little cliche clicheness in.

The lighting was horrible, and jagged as if they were trying to make it spooky and failed horribly. They could have done so much more.

What scared the audience I went with the most was the cat hissing right after the scene that made it seem as if something scary was coming.

I was really dissapointed with this film. It could have been a lot better.

A film needs more than just great acting and plot; It needs great technical aspects as well. Editing, cinematography, lighting and makeup are all apart of this.

This film was majourly lacking in all.

But I think that it's interesting that this is a based off a true story. What I want to know is what was hollywood, and what was real, though.

The review I read gave it 2 stars, but said that it's saving grace was that it actually raised some interesting question, despite the fact that the movie couldn't make it's mind up to be truly scary...So I'm wondering, did it raise any interesting theological (or otherwise) questions?

I thought it did, however, I'm sure everyone else here thought it didn't.
