I've never done a template contest so I'm missing something, but I thought we only needed a .jpg view of what the site would look like, not slices all zipped up and actual html.

you do, but I'd hope you put content in it...looks mighty boring with no content. I went the extra step and coded it to BE a full site if I wanted it, but Im not hosting it as I have no host. HOWEVER, I took screenshots of the entire site that I did, and am going to post that. Its HUGE so be prepared to do a considerable amount of reading and stuff, becuase the whole thing behind site design (as per the contest) is the CREATE AN ENTIRE SITE...but yes you're right, you dont have to show HTML, but to make a full site you needed to code in it and make it fit together right, not just empty boxes and stuff, thats kind of lame.

As an example of how I did it. I created the whoel site in Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Set up navs and rollovers, dropdowns and various otehr bits of synamic contnet (even an actionscript here and there. Saved it as an html. Went to the folder where my HTML was, and then double clicked the HTML file. Mozilla opens up showing you the site itself. I then took screenshots of the site, and placed them in photoshop and piced tehm togeter to make one long image. each page that I created is displaed, but in total its a single image file. We're not posting the HTML. Hopefully that will explain it to you so you understand it a bit better. Remember you Do still have time to change a couple of things or add something here and there. A true template is sliced and coded so that when you use it, its just adding content. I thought that if you could "murder my ass" in that, you'd know. OK here is my submission. I too, am tired of waiting. the deadline is NLT than midnight EST (3am PST)...so Its 705 by my watch. Heres what I got. I chose to do the site as a professional site. The colors black and yellow are used as the universal colors of CAUTION or WARNING. Since the site talks about how a lot of companies say things to divert your attention to things that dont matter, and how celebrities use their status to make you serve their purpose. It serves as an opinionated expose` of such stupid things out there. I made a log in page because, due to content, the last thing any site moderator or web master wants is hate mail from some whiney mom becuae her kid stumbles on the site at 4am while looking for porn, there actually IS an age verification code embedded into the sign up and email verification. There is no rule stating you need to show HTML, but know that its there.

The RULES page is my rebuttal to the "WORRY" pic that APERSON posted and in turn soe of the pieces that I've done. I did one of them JUST FOR the rules page, so illustrate a point. Throughout the site here and there you'll pick up on bits of low brow humor and sarcastic remarks that play off of actual things in society (not many but they are there). Total time taken 2 days (including the 3d work). The mock site is JUST that, a mock site. There is no way I'm actually going to host this. Itsone thing t trounce each others work in a forum that its somewhat acceptable to do in. Its another to make a website dedicated to it. Its just series of images that I pieced together by taking of each "page". Yes they are actual pages ( I have the HTML and such on my HDD if you need the proof), three seperate HTML pages, a CSS script and a bit of JS, just to say it was done right, meaning the tables, divs, everything is there. I didnt feel simply making a layout in PS and leaving it empty was really worth doing, as anyone can fdo that. The challenege was web design, and that means DESIGN a whole site, code, laoyout, function, content...every aspect of it.

With that heres my submission. Please take the time to read it through as the HOME page is supposed to be somewhat comical, and the RULES page is, as I stated...smack talk, but not hateful

I wish APERSON luck and would liek to say that regardless of the attitude of the content in the site, I have no hard feelings or bear him or her any ill will.

well. Aperson looks lame and aperson means hes not worthy of being referenced as a noun. I may have beef, but I'm not THAT degrading of others...though, the comment makes me wonder if you are "APERSON" under a different name...

but content is unimportant.

As for the layout, I have only three criticisms:

1)I don't like the continuance of the yellow vertical bar up into the "site title" box.
2)The white feels wrong to me.
3)Grey and yellow might be too soft (maybe even too professional) of colors for a site with this kind of angry vibe. Why not black and red?

I don't have anything to back my criticisms up or anything, just letting you know what I think.

I'm not hte greatest speller, and spell check didnt catch it. Your points are valid and appreciated. I chose a very professional layout as an irony, and almost sarcastic point, but yes, had this been absolutely REAL REAL.... Id have done like charcoal and perhaps an orange, as black and red (depending on their values) are really intense...but again its a valid suggestion and point.

If the white you are speaking of is in the login screen...yeah its something I forgot to take out and realized it after the submit, but its wrong to go back and change it now. Otherwise, I dont see any white. its a soft cool grey, cool yellow, and a neutral charcoal, as pure black would overpower the rest of everything and make the text bend into it. With this I made the content very important, so the misspelling of lewd, while it shouldnt count against me...lots of sites have errors in text (even the most careful person will slip on it here and there). Tht and I could go back and re read it for a 7th time, but it woul dmean revoking and resubing the work...

Wtf content is completely uneccesary this is web DESIGN. That adds a ton of work.

Senate, it is up to you but here is a suggestion.

Edit your post and delete the poll and then put it back up when Aperson submits his. It will then start on a clean slate.
