More than one person in a room/remove the second playfield

This idea has to have been brought up before... but I didn't see it on the first page so whatever.

Basically, more people will play ffr multi if there is more of a social aspect than a strictly competitive one. Adding multiple players (ie more than two) shouldn't increase lag that much if the second playfield is removed (which is a pointless lag generator and distracting to boot).

Basically smo on ffr. Except maybe without the live scoreboard, because that's annoying.

Or perhaps only do this in the non-matchmaking section of multi (for when there are two sections).

It may work if they could set up the rooms for different connections IE-56k, Cable, DSL, etc....

But, it would be quite hard to get the preferences of the muliplayer ap to work like that.... Hell, I'd have to have a built in bandwith tester...

Its official, starshot is the coolest noob ever.
topic: I would love for the engine to be down sized, i have cable but i still have to rum on low quality to be able to play with LESS lag. I say merge the two engines, the ffr and multi, so you can choose your play feild on the top where it was originally. Therefor reducing lag and decreasing engine size and well lag. Im not a computer genous but thats what first came to mind when i read this topic, and it sounds good to me.

But my account was only for FFR
Now I've gone into the forums

Oh, and I tried to make a basic multiplayer engine with this concept.... Quite difficult....

              K sweet.

btw how much is the development of ffr multi taking away from the development of the next R2 update (and will r2 support multiplayer?)?

Not at all, Synth works on FFR, while soccr works on R2.

There won't be a way to merge the multiplayer between FFR and R2 (due to the differences in the game), but I don't know if Soccr plans to make multiplayer for R2.
