Did you guys hear the latest news? Tsunamis are completely decimating Asia, already 50,000 killed! It will be double due to disease because of the homelesness in the region! The waves were 30 feet high, and washed across shores 4,000 miles away! (Even Somalia, which is in Africa!) It was because of a 9.0 Earthquake underneath the ocean... the equivalent of 130 atomic bombs! 10.0 would shatter the Earth! American government predicted it 1.5 hours before it happened, but the city that was destroyed didnt have a warning system and the warning given to them could not spread, so no evacuation was performed. When the final death toll is predicted I will give a minute of silence to the dead... may they rest in peace.

Tsunamis!
Every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lives here on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.

10.0 out of a scale of 12.0 would certainly not shatter the Earth. =/

It is 9 out of 10, 10 in a weak spot could do such damage.Originally posted by QreepyBORIS10.0 out of a scale of 12.0 would certainly not shatter the Earth. =/Every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lives here on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.

I heard in some news reports that the earthquake actually caused the Earth's rotation to stop for 3 seconds. Now THAT'S crazy.The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.Comment

Also, the Richter scale is logarithmic, this means a 10.0 is twice as strong as a 9.0.
So, the 9.0 isn't exactly as close to whatever 'eart-shattering' number as you may believe. Though, I doubt a 10 would do that.

This is uh...I forget, but it's in my old 7th grade science book or something. Different scale. There's the richter scale, out of 8, the Something scale, either out of 10 or out of 12, and this crappy subjective one that's out of 12, also.
I thought the Richter was in tens, like how decibles are, though.
2.0 is 10 times 1.0, 3.0 is 10 times 2.0, etc.
Whatever, it definitely would not shatter the Earth!

1.0 = 10
2.0 = 100
3.0 = 1000
etc.
I could double check this with the WORLD WIDE WEB, but I wont because it is vaction...and I am lazy.Comment
